Love this gate. It works great and has held up good. It is very helpful to be able to walk through and the latch is very user friendly. Latch can be opened with one hand which is a game changer

Gate with door
Gate fits in a wider space in our home with only 1 of the extra inserts included. We use it to keep a dog contained when people visit (German Shepherd) and it is plenty tall. It is sturdy and latches securely just using the tension set up, but she doesn't jump up on it or anything. Set up is not the easiest by yourself due to having to hold in place and move the tightening nut down the screw. It can be done but is easier with 2 people, especially with the extra inserts. The gate opening is not very large. I am a bigger person and have to turn sideways to walk through the open gate. Also, you have to step over the bottom bar of the gate to walk through it. This is not a problem for me but could be an issue for some with mobility issues. Once set up, the gate can easily be open and closed with 1 hand. I did buy larger skid proof cups to use between the wall and the tension screws, but these probably aren't necessary. When set up & not in use, we leave the gate door open, and it stays open no problem. It does come with mounting hardware if you want it affixed more permanently or securely, but I have not needed to mount into the wall.

Must Have
Great buy! Love the door type feature! Requires less work than the $35 dollar one you’d have to step OVER 😳 perfect for my kiddo and myself! 😉

Finally I'm through climbing over doggy gates!!!!
(edited December 18, 2016... I LOVE these. I figured out how to make the gate work in the one opening where I had trouble. I had to raise it up over the baseboard, then it fit with the pieces it came with. :) My dog is 6 months old now and over 80 pounds (newfoundlands!!!) and occasionally throws his body against it, which DOES move it but has not yet taken one down. These have been lifesavers for me.) If your dog is a normal sized dog, you won't have trouble with these being knocked down.I was hesitant to purchase this because of reviews which said it only fit a couple specific sized openings. This is untrue. Once you put it up you'll see... the knobs which hold it in place turn like screws and can make this gate any size between its smallest and largest size. I've purchased (and am using) three for my newfoundland puppy. He simply got too tall for my gates... and I can't step over anything larger than what I had!! I love having a door, although know these are narrow openings. You'll probably need to turn a bit to get through. But they are relatively simple to install and to use.The only problem I've had is that my 47 inch opening is too small to use with all the pieces that come with it and too large without one. Thescrews won't hold it in place. Because I ordered three gates, I removed the larger piece and replaced it with an extra narrow piece from one of my other gates. Then added the two narrow additions instead of the one large. (It was too large with the large and small pieces added, and too small, barely, with only the large piece added) it isn't ideal but so far it works for me and I'm happy with it. (edit: weeks later, still working great! Also i worried my strong puppy would knock it down. But so far he has actually left them alone. I don't think he recognizes them as gates since we walk through them and don't take them up and down.Highly recommend...solved my problem and saved my back.Don't worry about the negative reviews... unless you have a 47-50 inch opening. In which case you may have to mess with it a bit and come up with a solution.

Bane of my existence
I absolutely hate baby gates. They are the bane of my existence. I have had, on numerous occasions, needed one during my years fostering dogs. I have used all of the different variations and have never found one that: 1. Was designed properly, 2. Was easy to install, or 3. Addressed all of my needs. Well, this Regalo gate keeps the tradition going, because it is guilty of all three. You would think that something as simple as a baby gate would be easy to design. Coming from an engineering background, I tend to be very critical of anything that I have to put together, because I can usually find several things that I would have done differently had I designed it myself. I don't think the person, or persons, who designed this gate ever had to use one themselves; if they did, they would have made a better gate. I don't know why an extendable gate can't be made that expands and contracts without having to manually add extensions which are either too long or too short. Most of these gates either go in doorways or in hallways; do these designers not know the standard width of either one?I was using this Regalo gate in a main hallway to block a dog from going upstairs. The gate, by itself, was not wide enough to span the hallway, so I needed an extension. Well, the small extension was too small, and the large extension was too large. Not only that, but I had two other problems: The hallway had a chair rail, and the baseboard had quarter round molding. Now, the reason I got this pressure gate was because I refused to drill into my walls for the umpteenth time and have a repair to do down the road. I dislike pressure gates because of the bar along the bottom; it is a tripping hazard. But my choices were limited, and this gate had good reviews, so here we are.As you can see in the photos, the gate has to be placed above the chair rail to make contact with the wall. This means that the gate bottom does not sit on the floor. The tripping hazard just got worse! In order to make this gate work for my situation, I had to cut pieces of 2X4 lumber to use as spacers for the four corners where the pressure screws hold the gate to the wall to get the gate to span the hallway and hold securely. Needless to say, I needed another pair of hands to help as I re-engineered this gate.I don't even want to get started about the narrowness of the gate itself; the average person will probably have to walk through sideways, and I don't even know how an overweight person could navigate through this narrow gate opening. And why, for heaven's sake, does the gate only swing in one direction?I could go on, but I feel a migraine coming. I need some aspirin. And a drink. I have a feeling that I am not the only person who bought this gate that feels that way.
