What a bizarre design. Each little plastic plug-in has a chip to tell the heat gun to put out a certain amount of heat. Strange as it seems, I think this is just Steinel's way of simplifying their heat guns and saving money. Simplicity equals reliability in theory. Try to find another heat gun by Steinel that puts out 1200 degrees and you'll easily pay double the price of this thing and it doesn't have NEARLY the air flow this model has. I just bought this thing about 3 weeks ago, so I'm still testing it. My one complaint is that it doesn't heat up as fast as I'd like it to. I have to leave it running a bit before I use it and I know it's just using up the heating element. I'm using this thing for window tint and only use the red plug-in for the hottest setting to save myself some time. It's too early to tell but I am so far satisfied. I will keep this review updated.Update 2/23/2020: I've been using this thing HEAVILY 6 days of every week for the past 9 months and it's still going strong. It still has the original heating element and everything. It's tough to find heat guns this reliable today. A worthwhile purchase.

Is a good product the only thing that was not good is the fact that the stitches that control the temperature did not come with it.
