Innovative Marine BioSkim DC AIO Internal Nano Protein Skimmer - Universal

Great skimmer but this doesn’t last as much as 3 or more month. Mine just stopped working I tried to see if the motor is stuck or anything but still doesn’t work. Sadly, was a great product but doesn’t last as much :(. Also the cap does comes off when the skimmer comes half way on the chamber. But I put something heavy on top of the cap so it won’t spill the waste back into the aquarium.

I bought one of these for my 40 gallon reef tank. Upon installation things worked really well and my tank water was much clearer than before. I was really happy with the product. So happy that my girlfriend ordered one for her 10 gallon cube. It was a little bit of a challenge installing in her tank — mine was a little easier. The pump on her unit failed within 30 days of purchasing and she made arrangements to return. My unit was a hard to adjust after getting set up but 35 days after purchase it’s pump stopped working as well, making the unit worthless and not able to return through amazon.It worked great for the first 5 days and well after that but two units and neither lasted 45 days is pretty poor reliability.

UPDATE 03/12/20:It's been a few months, and the skimmer is going strong and is definitely skimming... but I still have micro bubbles in the main display. :( It's a bummer given this is an Innovative Marine product that I thought was designed to work with the tank I have (Innovative Marine Nuvo 14 Peninsula)... that said, it's not perfect, but it's really close. I'm raising my review to 4 stars as I've gotten used to seeing the bubbles and they don't seem to be hurting any of my coral or livestock.UPDATE 01/28/20:After about 3 days of breaking in, the micro bubbles have lessened in the main display, but they are still present. I was hopeful they'd subside fully, but they haven't yet. Will update again if they go away completely. As it stands now, I would recommend this skimmer... just know there is a distinct possibility of micro bubbles in your display if your tank is as small as mine (Innovative Marine 14 gallon peninsula AIO).ORIGINAL REVIEW:I've just installed this on my new Innovative Marine Peninsula 14 gallon tank, and I've got micro bubbles all over the place. I've pulled it out at least 4 times now to check that the fittings are all tight, and they are... so I have no idea what's going on. The tank is currently cycling, so I'm going to give it a chance to break in before I give up and return it.I've dealt with Octo skimmers and Tunze skimmers, but never an IM skimmer. I love Innovative Marine tanks... but so far, this is a major disappointment. :(

After set up and a few days running, I give it a 2.Did not have a water level indicated on the body of the skimmer and the instructions do not specify. Since this is the first skimmer I’ve set up, this made it fairly confusing and created a lot of extra noise until I realized it was set in too deep. The hanging bracket is very flimsy and broke immediately. I run an intank media basket and refugium in a Biocube 32. With this set up, increasing the water level high enough for the skimmer raised it too high for proper circulation of my filtration.So… instead of giving up on it altogether, I purchased a powerful aquarium grade magnet set for mounting. I put my water level back where I needed it for filtration and mounted the skimmer accordingly with the magnets. This would not have been achievable with the provided hanging bracket. I’ve now had it running for a few days and am still fine tuning it. It is putting out A LOT of micro bubbles but from my research this sounds normal during the brake in period. I will update if the micro bubble situation does not resolve normally.

Liked:. Fit biocube 32 LED well. Can put it in center or return pump compartment. Easy to adjust and produced great skim on the first day.Cons: the muffler on the air intake works well...but you're going to hear it in a quiet bedroom. Not bad..but still noticableBetter than the coralife skimmer by far. I got no skim off that one.

Wow, this is an amazing skimmer! It broke in and started doing its work within a couple of hours of having it running. Its effective and efficient for the compact size.Some extre notes about it.1. You dont have to have the skimmer set at the specific water level said on the skimmer. I have mine sitting higher than what is recommended and it's still working amazingly. You just have to lower the collection cup to adjust accordingly.2. The air hose assembly was interesting. Mine came with and extra air intake line, an elbow for the lines, and a silencer. Trying to figure out how it is ment to be put together will be interesting.Great pump overall, will be buying more for the rest of my fishtank builds.

I did a lot of research on these smaller protein skimmers.This is pretty good for what it is at this price. It fit into the biocube 29, no problem. But the dang pump died on me about a month ago. Maybe I got a defective one, I dont know. But its good for its price.. Expect to buy another one at least once a year.
