I am a huge fruit fan and eat an apple or two per day. I buy my apples, from our local farmer's market by the half-bushel. The apples come in all sizes and are often very large. Two Progressive apple corers split when attempting to center and core larger apples. See the side by side comparison of the Newness vs the Progressive; also note the split on the Progressive where the two corers touch. I could never understand why Progressive didn't make a larger corer for "real world" size apples. The Newness corer is just what the "doctor ordered." In the two months that I've been using it, there haven't been any problems coring the largest apples.I saw some reviews stating that the Newness corer wasn't sharp enough. There's a proper technique to coring an apple that involves centering the the blade and pushing it in deep enough to support lifting the apple up off of the counter or cutting board. You then need to raise the apple about two or three inches or so off of the cutting surface and bring it down with enough force to slice it close to the bottom. You then need to turn it upside down, repeat the previous step, with less force in order to release the apple from the corer. You can then break off the slices off of the semi-intact cored/sliced apple as you eat them if you don't core them all the way to the bottom of the apple.Overall, the Newness Apple Slicer Corer is a sturdy well built corer. The blades and handles are solid. I researched and reviewed numerous corers before purchasing the Newness Apple Slicer Corer. It's the best corer that I've found yet and is still as sturdy, months later, as the first day that I used it and every day since!

I own the 12- and 16-slice versions of this brand of corer and bought this for larger sections of the fruit. While the blades are sharp, I have to apply my full weight of 170 lb and rock the slicer to get the cutting started on apple skins. It's somewhat easier with pears which have softer peels. I have seen similar comments on most brands of this device, so this is an alert rather than advice to try something else.I especially like the durability of this device - despite the pressure to get the cutting started, neither this nor the other two sizes have broken. Furthermore, this brand accommodates the largest diameter fruit. Cleaning is easy - I just run hot tap water over the blades.

Easy to use and works very well. Just got to apply quite some strength to cut but it works. I eat more apples now because of it.

I like that this one is large enough to accommodate large apples. It's not the sturdiest and I don't know how long it will last, but so far I really like it.It's easy to use and seems sharper than others I have looked at. I would recommend it.

The blades are sharp and cut well all the way through the apple, so the core is free.

The media could not be loaded. I purchased the slicer because I dehydrate lots of foods and I thought it would be a quick way to prepare apples.I purposely chose this one because I get more slices then many of the other slicers and I did not want slices to be too thick.It works to give me fairly even slices.Slices average 9/16 of an inch at the thickest partBut sometimes I literally have to pound the apple on the counter or the cutting board to get the slicer to go through the fruit..My biggest complaint is that it does not slice all the way through no matter what I do, including trying to slice the fruit upside down.As you can see in the video, everything stays together. I have to pull or push the pieces out individually which definitely slows me down.I would give it a 3.5 review for its consistency size and durability, but it’s a miss for not having sharp enough blades or the ability to get all the way through the fruit.

Amply sized - slices even larger apples. Attractive. Good grips. Elevated handles make pushing the slicer down to the bottom of the apple possible. Seems (?) sturdy, although only time will tell.My only criticism is that it's much harder to get through the apple than my previous slicer. It's definitely doable, but takes some strength and technique.

Habe mir diesen Apfelschneider für Zuhause geholt, da ich so den Kern gleich in der Küche entsorgen kann und die Äpfel praktisch in Stücken verputzen kann.Wie in der Beschreibung angegeben sind die Klingen nicht komplett abschließend mit der Plastikkante, sodass man den Rest selber herausbrechen muss. Aber das ist nicht sonderlich schlimm.
