Moving with the Holy Spirit
I was listening to a sermon by Tim Dilena when he referenced the book, The Cross and the Switchblade. I was familiar with David Wilkerson and Time Square Church. I decided to get book and was amazed at the story of how the Holy Spirit moved in the lives of so many. This book is truly inspiring, to witness God using one man, David Wilkerson, to touch the lives of so many young people. Teen Challenge is still changing the lives of many to this day. It all started with an article in a magazine that inspired Mr Wilkerson to go to New York City. The rest is history, what the Holy Spirit can do in a hopeless situation. Great book and awesome story.

Off guard
From the title to the actually storyline: intriguing. Emotional, sad and heart-warming at the same time.

Even better 40 years later
I read this book as a young lady. It made such an impression on me then. I always remembered the title & Rev. Wilkerson's name I recalled about Teen Challenge. When I heard about this book recently again, I couldn't wait to read it again! I was originally from Western PA, so that's probably attracted me at first. As I read it this time,I am amazed to read of how horrible these teens were & what they were involved in & how desperate. I was so very innocent then & I can't imagine how I read about heroin & murders, etc back then! I am still startled to read it again. I am heartbroken to think how much more rampant this has become! I have never understood how dope peddlers could hang around schools & get these dear children addicted & yet the Police couldn't see those pushers at the schools? I am still naive about the whole drug trafficking & how it keeps growing & growing. I think that there must be lots of money &/or drugs dispensed throughout the whole chain to make it so readily available. I am so very thankful for ministers & people of Faith, putting that Faith to work & risking all to save these souls with God's guidance & miracles. I am also thankful that I didn't have to grow up in a place with the drug problems. We thought alcohol was the biggest problem & I saw that damage in my family. We always were and felt loved and I believe that is crucial. This book confirms that, none of them felt love & value. Love of your fellow man is free. Anyone can afford it, if their heart is set on God. That's a valuable lesson of Rev "Davie. "

Great message of about an inner-city gang member from who becomes a Christian
Great read, quite compelling, it’s been so great. I’ve passed it along to several other people to read. Highly recommend this book about a famous New York City gang member who became a Christian, and now leads a ministry as an evangelist around the world.

An Oldie, a story of a man who walked where most would dare not
Purchased this for someone who is incarcerated thinking maybe it would hit home. I heard Nikki Cruz speak at The Brooklyn Tabernacle and like I said prayed that the person I bought it for might find "something" in it.I will never know as we are responsible for the input not the outcome, only time will tell. Not for everyone but definitely for the person I bought it for. The story of David Wilkerson was made into a movie way back in the 1960's I think played by Pat Boone. Wow how times have changed, one of the best selling books of 1959 was Twixt 12 and 20 by Pat Boone (who was Pat Boone lol), imagine that selling today? David Wilkerson walked where most men would not dare to walk into the streets of hell but saved a lot of souls. Truly a man of God if this type of book is for you.
