How to Get Into the Top Consulting Firms: A Surefire Case Interview Method - 2nd Edition

More helpful than other resources out there
I also have Case in Point but found it to be full of a lot of unnecessary garbage. This book, on the other hand, is concise, well-written and easy/quick to read. I found the flow charts and examples to be great for getting a handle on structuring and laying out cases. Although perhaps overpriced, this book is a good resource and I definitely recommend it over Case in Point.

Worth it
The most helpful and educational consulting preparation book I have read. So simple to understand, tells you what you should truly know in brief direct ways

Book has typos
I don't understand how this book made it to market without being reviewed. I found at least 3 typos and I don't think the answer is correct for 1 of the cases at the end. I recommend Case in Point over any other book.

Mediocre
Not very comprehensive. I think some ideas are too simple. I wouldn’t recommend it as the only source if you want to get into consulting.

excellent
Book received on time. Item delivered as described. Would definitely recommend it. Book has sufficient info from writing a resume to detailed info on how consulting firms operate .

Some decent information, but not worth the price.
I based my purchase mainly on the glowing reviews (which appear a bit dubious after reading comments in one of the 3 star reviews). After having finished the book, I feel a bit cheated. Cheated because it cost more than the other case book I purchased ("Case in Point" by Cosentino), while appearing to be of much lower quality than said other book. There are some good pieces of info in Darling's book, but I imagine I could find most pretty quickly via some Google searches. Also, the book is filled with typos, the occasional miscalculation, and even missing text. It seems like a draft version that didn't get proof read. I don't feel completely ripped off, because the book did refresh my memory on some business concepts. However, I would not purchase this book again if I knew then what I know now. In my eyes, it doesn't justify its price tag when there are more comprehensive/polished titles like Cosentino's out there selling for less.

The science of case interview
Just read the first few chapters. The approach seems more systematic than what is found in other case prep books (such as Case in Point). In particular, the frameworks are well presented and make sense. This is the "science" of case interview, when other books tend to present it more like an "art".
