These are my favorite carabiners when one needs to capture one end.They are insanely lightweight, machined great and very smooth to operate.Note: with RockExotica carabiners, one pulls the gate downward to rotate, into one’s palm. This helps it stay in one hand, versus away from one’s palm, which makes it far less secure as you are pulling the gate away from your hand.Thus, I very much like these because I can operate them right or left handed without looking at them.And lighter is always better when climbing.

As a relatively new SRT tree climber, I like the rock exotica locking mechanism though I’ve read some people find it funky since it is upside down compared to some other manufacturers products. I bought a handful of these. One with a wire gate, one without and a pirate HMS style. All really great!

I use these carabiners for tree work, where industry standards dictate we use double action locking mechanisms. Rock exotica carabiners lock in the opposite direction of most gates but feel solid and work flawlessly even under extremely harsh conditions. Anyone should feel completely safe trusting their life to Rock Exotica products.

I bought extras to replace the carabiners that came stock on my other equipment; these are stronger and have a 'twist-pull down-fold in' arrangement than I can accomplish in one motion. The most frustrating part of my last climb was dealing with a carabiner on one side that I had to 'twist-pull up- fold in' arrangement that I had to use both hands for on one side and this one on the other. It was maddening having to actually stop and think about the correct 'combination' before I could make my next move.

Like RE stuff. bought a number of biners, rig plates, and pulleys from RE for a specfic project. All nice. All the biners work well. Like the slight offset to the opening. I thoguht I wanted the autolock version, as I really like an older DMM HMS with an autolock, and I feel they are faster to open. The opening motion requires a push down then turn, one more step than I'd prefer. I am used to the opposite single-rotation of the DMM. This is not to say the product is of less quality...it's great...I just felt slowed by the operation. I almost sent six back to trade for the autolock versions, but after this one arrived, I changed my mind.

Excellent quality and color. I love the downward action on the locking mechanism.

I personally find the unlocking mechanism on these carabiners more ergonomic when pulling down as opposed to the carabiners that require you to push them up. Love em!
