Nicely does it job.
It's a very good tool, does the job fast and gives a clean cut. Good price, good quality.

Does the job
I use this in a drill press to drill recesses in hardwood. Does a good job.

Does the job...but really need to use with a drill press
I wanted a 50mm shallow hole in some wood. Bought this item and it works ok but really needs to be used with a drill press so both bit and workpiece are firmly held. Using it with a cordless handheld drill is troublesome. No matter how careful you are the bit tends to dig into the wood and wrench the drill out of your hands or the workpiece out of its clamps. In the end I made a 50mm dia guiding ring from some 9mm plywood using a hole cutter and clamped it to the workpiece...then run the bit at fairly high revs... but very gently does it

Wouldn’t bite the wood I was drilling
This is probably more me than the product but I couldn’t use it as intended. Drill bit was not successful but seems well made

Good for the money
Not bad value the money. For a carbide tipped cutter. Runs pretty true in the drill press. Hex shaft is a plus.Produced a 50.3 mm hole in hardwood straight out of the box.Well packed.Might try some other sizes.

Poor engineering and kinda dangerous if using a hand drill
This is dangerous. The central spike that the while bit spins on and centres the Forstner is way too small and wide and it causes the bit to spin out of control wildly. It then skates over the top of the timber when any speed is applied with your drill.I'm used to holding down the timber and using one hand to drill with my usual Forstner bits but these bits are mental. First couple of pulses with the drill and it skipped off the pivot and ran over my thumb leaving a right few holes in me on the way.I should have clamped the timber so kinda my fault but it's never been an issue with any other bits that I own.The design faults dont just lie with the central pin being too small. What they have done is weld on some tungsten type teeth on the outside of the bit so it's not a smooth cut. You have the circular base and two points of contact outside that which spins at high speed and rip in to the timber.Imagine a coin with a v shaped tooth welded on at opposite sides, now the teeth and the central pivot are all the same size so when you fire up the drill they all hit the timber at the same time and unless you have it in a pillar drill then its mayhem.Once the bit gets to depth it's alright, it needs to cut down to over half of its thickness at least, it cuts decently enough but slightly larger than it says due to the ropey welding on the teeth on the outside of the bit.Anything under half of the Forstner thickness in depth can still cause it to catch on a knot or, in a few cases, catch nothing at all and make it come screaming out the hole it has started and seek out any exposed flesh like an angry pitbull. Also on the way out it destroys the top of your timber, looks like its been carpet bombed by the time your finger comes off the drill trigger. The thing is it feels really well made but it just doesn't do the job it's meant to do.I might pass them on to someone I really don't like but i wont be using them in my projects. They come in wee red plastic boxes that I plan to repurpose in the workshop so that's why I gave it another star.Definitely give these a miss unless you want hands like Freddy Kreugers face or plan to use them to hone your Kung Fu type reaction skills for quickly moving your hands out the way of impending danger.
