Thru built-in web apps like Youtube and Netflix
After owning this TV for sixty days I can say that this TV at this discounted price is well worth the purchase. I will only focus my review on its 4k and other features since there is no point of buying this TV at the price if not for its 4K sticker. First of all, 4K, having more than ten times the info than 1080p (because of much higher resolution and color space), has very little support in decoding among TV sets. If you google the reviews on other name brand 4k TVs owners have same type of frustration of not being able to play 4k videos. There are basically four ways to play 4k content:a. 4k TV feed which is not available and unlikely in the foreseeable future;b. Thru built-in web apps like Youtube and Netflix;c. Thru USB/Wifi input to play a downloaded 4k file;d. Thru an HDMI input of uncompressed 4k signal.Obviously, no one should worry about option A since there is nothing to test. When it comes to b, the TV needs to have powerful decoders to untangle highly compressed 4k streams, which most TVs on the market do not possess. In this case Hisense TV will not even allow higher than 720p, and most 4k content from Youtube are actually only 480 stream. So, you put a downloaded 4k file on USB drive and stick it in Hisense, it simply won't recognize the file. How about your photos in 10M pixels? No, it doesn't display 4K either, only 1080p thru USB. If you don't believe its only 1080, simply download 4k test files and see if you can resolve the 4k details. So, in the end you are left with HDMI one port, which does indeed display 4k, but with some limitations-- it only displays the most basic 4k, which is 30p. That's because its HDMI port has NO supports beyond v1.4.All of these findings have been verified with Hisense tech support, which has been most helpful thru email. So, why it deserves five stars? Because the TV offers everything other name brand TVs of 4K on the market do, at almost half the price. Other TVs cannot play file and web app at 4K either; the ones you see at BestBuy and Costco are all played thru HDMI port just like this one, probably at 30p. And when you see 4k thru HDMI on this TV it looks so glorious that you think its at least as good as those you saw in store displays.Oh, the two often mentioned deficiencies about this TV, one is hard to adjust color and contrast and the other NO universal remote (IR) support. None of that is true, to adjust the color and contrast fully you need to play with settings both on TV and in the 4k player (a topic for another day). And thanks to Hisense tech support you can get a free IR receiver sent to you and then you can control the TV with a universal remote like a Logictech Harmony.

Hisence 55" ultra high definition a great buy!
Wow factor! Purchased this Hisence on Black Friday sale at my local Walmart. Plug it in and set the TV to store demo mode to look at the ultra high def. it was the same as in the store so I knew I was getting the same one. Then turned on my satellite for non HDef and the picture even though it was not being broadcast in ultra was amazing! The remote is very easy to use and the on-screen prompts are very easy to use and understand. Overall I would definitely buy this tv again and if they offered a 65" curved screen I probably would purchase that one also.

Absolutely Love It!
Absolutely Love It !!! I bought our Hisence big screen three going on four yrs. ago for the quality picture.Walmart had them all lined up, you know the usual brands. I kept coming back to this one as it had thebest crisp and clearest picture beating out the so said top line. Price had them all beat !!We have never had any trouble that disconnecting did not fix, I do that to my pc and router too ! right!??!Watching just the other night a newer movie and it was as close to 3D as I've ever seen ! I repeatAbsolutely Love It !!!

the input lag on this thing is so bad that trying to use a mouse is just too ...
I'm going to give this five stars, with a caveat.Do not purchase this to use as a computer monitor; it is unusable for that purpose. It is limited to 30hz at 4k resolution, you'll only see 60 hz in 1080p resolution, which defeats the purpose...and even then, the input lag on this thing is so bad that trying to use a mouse is just too frustrating. With that said, if you use this TV as .... a TV, like it was intended, this truly is a great TV for the price. I got the 55" for $485 at Walmart, you can't beat that for what you're getting. It is definitely a budget TV, meaning you're not going to get the more advanced features or performance of a name brand model (my notes regarding PC usage being a great example of it's limitations), and yes, the contrast isn't very good. It isn't that bad either, the reviewers who have severe issues with it are probably doing it wrong. If you are on the fence about buying this TV, don't be. It's a fantastic TV for it's price, I doubt you'll have a better experience with one of the other generic models like Insignia or Westinghouse. But certainly, go for one of the models from LG or Sony or Samsung if you can afford to, the extra money is well worth it (and mandatory, if you're using this for a PC monitor or gaming)

Better than we expected
We bought this as a "cheap" replacement for the family room. Ours went out and this was on sale at Wall-Mart. Wow, it was supposed to be just a cheap temporary replacement, but Its has a better picture quality than all of our more expensive TVs in the house.
