Works great, sounds good
Using with my Canon t3i for interviews. Works great, sounds good. Keep extra batteries around. It was the perfect solution/price for my situation.

Nice Features but disappointing sound
I've had this for a little over three months now and after finally being able to extensively test it I have to say I'm very disappointed. After watching some of the links they posted I thought for sure that this was the right choice over the Zoom H4N to use with my DSLR. The ability to not have to marry audio seemed like a godsend and I was ecstatic to try this out.I've done 8 test shoots now and I have to say the audio quality is subpar. It's not as bad as many DSLRs are without a microphone but it still has a horrible hissing sound that needs to be adjusted in post. I wish I had tested this and returned it within the allotted frame because as of now I'd love to get my money back. I've reached out to Saramonic and hopefully they can either walk me through an alternative route to make the audio sound crisp, or they can directly refund me. I would be spending more time in post editing out the light hiss then I would just marrying clean audio from a separate recorder to begin with. For reference I shot on a Canon t5i with a rode 3 shotgun mic attached. The microphone definitely still picked up too much camera noise :( Maybe it sounds better with Lavs or other mics but my purposes are mainly shotgun mics so this was a huge disappointment.I'll revise my post if Saramonic is able to get back to me. I hope they have excellent customer service because as of now it feels like i flushed away 200 dollars.UPDATE: I reached out to Saramonic and promptly got the run around before they basically said they couldn't / wouldn't help me.So to summarize my experience: The audio quality still produces a noticeable hiss with a high end shotgun microphone, Saramonic was pretty terrible about getting back to me then promptly refused to help by continuing to try and blame others... Yikes I personally am going to stay away from all Saramonic products moving forward.

A great preamp that won't break the bank
A wonderful pre-amp for days that you need a reliable setup with usable sound. We started using the Saramonic SR-AX107 amps on our cameras the last few events that we sent out camera crews out to (including CES 2016 in Las Vegas), where our crews were roaming around with a setup on wheels. Crews either used handheld mics or lavs (adapted to XLR).For whatever reasons, our regular Shure lavs would not work properly with this amp, so we had to use self-powered lavs (lavs that in-line power supplies via cell batteries) and set the amp to mic level input (which weren't the best lavs out there, but they pulled it off.Battery life is great as we lasted nearly the entire 6 days of CES (including press-only days that occur before the show opens publically). It wasn't until the very last day that we had to swap them out. Keep in mind, we powered off the amp in-between shoots. Each team did an average of about 20-40 shoots per day, each shoot consisting anywhere between 4 and 7 minutes on average. It does add a lot of weight to the camera setup. It doubled the weight of our cameras (we were using Canons), but we also use solid tripod and wheel solutions that can take all that weight and so much more. As long as you have a decent tripod, the weight is just fine.It is good to note that if you are using a Canon to shoot with, to take the Canon's internal pre-amp down to about +1 or +2 (default value Is 75). This will allow audio to come in, but it will be the amplified source coming in from the Saramonic pre-amp without the Canon's noisy amp adding to it any. This is important because Canon's internal pre-amp is horrible. Unless you go with the new-ish SL1. The SL1 is one of the starter level cameras that first hit the market in 2013 and for whatever reason, Canon finally decided to enhance their internal pre-amp and it sounds great. Sadly, they didn't apply the same to their other high-end models that released that year and since.Obviously, there are better external preamps on the market, but comparing price and quality together, the Saramonic delivers a great range of sound for a much better price. If you are looking for absolutely the BEST audio quality out there for your shoot, plan to spend more around $500-800 (or more) for the perfect pre-amp. This amp works great though for both amateur and professional shoots. If you are just doing interviews, news, YouTube skits (or equivalent), commercials, etc..--this amp works great. For the price, it wouldn't hurt having one of these laying around in case you need it.Last but not least, we used a number of handhelds with this amp. Just in case the question pops up, what sounded best to us was the Sennheiser e845 and the Shure 58 beta. We only tested around 6 mics against it, so if you found some other good solutions, do comment and share as I am sure all would love to learn about it :)**If you have found our review helpful, please vote it as helpful below so we know. This helps us to provide quality feedback in the future.

Looks like a great piece of gear
Looks like a great piece of gear, but it became defective almost immediately . I was getting an audio signal with no inputs. The company gladly took it back and refunded my money.A good company to deal with. I hope the problem is not spread among other units.

great for dslr
The media could not be loaded. Works great for dslr's. I use the ZOOM H4N as well, however mounting the H4N can be awkward, the Saramonic will mount right to the bottom of my gh4 (or other dslrs) and is really no bigger than a battery grip. It's made from aluminum and has a good weight to it. Audio sounds great, and I used phantom power. Simple layout. Recommend!
