***Quick update for the review below. As of March 2021 this still turns over without any issues. It has been a great starter and even better value. I'll be honest, I thought I would have some type of issue by now but it has been rock solid!***After reading all of the mixed reviews I wanted to add mine to the mix since it seems like there are good ones and bad ones coming from the manufacturer.Out of the box it was very clean, appears well made and machining, fit, etc. was above average (especially for a price of $65). Bolted in/wired up in no time and cranked without issue first try and every after. Have cranked it over 50+ times in the past week and will get a work out this summer with all the starting and stopping while pulling tubes & skis.Will update at the end of the 2019 season and adjust my review accordingly. Hoping this is one of the good ones.

I got 4 riders with it and worked well, it was cranking fast, then it burned, still cranking slowing without enough speed for start, draw the battery charge in few seconds and smells burn plastic, unfortunatelly it's out of return window, is hard to remove and install a new one in my boat, then I'm really disapointed. I don't know if is bad quality or bad luck, but it's no longer working after less than 2 months. If something changes in my inspection I'll change this review.

Excellent replacement. This replaced a starter on an old boat. A Mercruiser starter would have been way more expensive.

Good fitment. Arrived promptly. I purchased this starter in November of 2015 for the Mercruiser 5.7 ltr. engine in our boat. So it has lasted seven years. Not bad! It's starting to fail now with a click on ignition attempts until it randomly starts or I bang on it with a hammer. Time to replace.We are not frequent boaters. So a couple of those 7 years we may have only gone out 3 to 4 times. Other years we may have averaged 60 to 100 hours on the water. When we go out we restart frequently for skiing, tubing, and kneeboarding.Soooo..... I am happy to take a chance on purchasing this after market unit again. The price has gone up $33 in 7 years but still better than $230 to $280 for OEM (especially if it again stays reliable for seven seasons.) If it is still reliable after 5 years I may purchase another to have on hand when I need to switch out again.

I had a very tough time trying to find out if what the correct starter was for my 2004 Bayline bowrider boat. This starter was in-fact the exact fit. I'm sure my old starter just needed new brushes, but this was a far more rapid and cost effective solution.Boat cranked over immediately on the fist try.I was between 4 and 5 start, just because it did not come with new mounting bolts or new nylon nut for a wire lead. Some others out there do. But not that big a deal.
