ColdTi - Titanium Bitcoin Seed Plates for Ultra-Secure Crypto Seed Phrase Storage (2 Plates, Punch Set & Seals) - Premium Seed Phrase Metal - Alphabetic Punch Set Included

Love the concept of a recovery seed STAMPED into titanium, a metal which won't rust or corrode. And a melting point over 3000°F. Average temp of a house fire is 1100°F, with peaks between 1,200 and 1,800°F. Meaning the plate would survive a fire even if it wasn't locked in a safe. One minor complaint is the really tiny punch set included with the kit. Almost too small to read (2mm??), especially if you don't use good technique while doing it. I practiced on some scraps of metal first, decided it was a lost cause. Ended up using a 3mm (1/8”) set which was much more readable. But the etched blocks spacing would easily allow a 4mm (5/32”) or even 5mm (3/16") . (See attached picture, their 2mm on top, my own 3mm below.) Suggest purchasing only the plates, and get a larger punch kit elsewhere. Important -When you actually punch the letters, use a solid smooth metal backing plate for best results. Bench block, jewelers block, anvil, metal vice, or anything similar. Attempting to do this with a wood backing (or rubber, concrete, carpet, etc) is going to result in a warped plate and dimpled characters.

It was not super easy to hammer all those letters, but overall it is exactly what you need and at a really reasonable price.

I wanted to secure my wallet's recovery seed phrase using an affordable but durable cold storage option. I purchased the ColdTi plates to stamp and store my seed, and here is my review after using them:Pros:- Sturdy metal construction - The grade 2 titanium plates feel extremely solid and secure. Gives me peace of mind.- Grid layout - The organized letter/number grid makes stamping the seed phrase easy and accurate. Well designed.- Includes screws - The two plates attach securely together with included screws for compact storage.- Affordable price - At around $40, this is very budget-friendly compared to other metal seed storage options. Great value.- Duplicates for multiple locations - I like that two plates come in the kit so I can store one off-site for redundancy.Cons:- Stamping takes time - Converting my seed words to numbers and carefully stamping took a couple of hours.- Very permanent - Any stamping errors require starting over with new plates. No erasing possible.Overall, the ColdTi plates provided me with affordable and durable cold storage for my wallet recovery phrase. The materials are top-notch and design is well-executed. I would recommend them to anyone securing cryptocurrency. Hope this review helped!

Put this on a hard surface, and give it a semi hard tap (not real hard) with a regular carpenters hammer. It will imprint nicely. You don't need a jewelers block, you don't need a sledge hammer. If you use a sledge hammer it WILL bend the metal. Came out great. I had 24 words so I printed out the alphabet on a piece of paper, laid each of the metal letters on top of the corresponding letter and I was able to go complete it very quickly.

Leah package arrived busted and broken. The metal punches were all over the place in the packaging for the plates was torn open.The plates are OK, much smaller than I thought.The punches, however, our way smaller than I thought and appeared to be very cheap. There’s nothing to denote what letter they are. You have to squint your eyes and look at the punch end and try to figure out what letter it is. I can see why there are so many complaints about how long it takes to punch your cards. And this is also why people make mistakes doing it.I recommend buying a better punch set and just getting the plates if you are OK with small plates. Or find a different manufacturer altogether.

TLDR; Works as intended and while demanding some work it is much cheaper than other alternatives.The packaging looked very old and worn, but that did not in any way prevent the product from working as intended. It took me a while to figure out why I only received 9 punches when I thought there would be 10. But of course the 9 punch can be turned up side down to produce a 6.There is quite some work to look up each of the 24 words I had in BIP39 format, and then punch between 1 and four digits for each word into the titanium. I suggest doing a few practice punches in the bottom to make sure you get the hang of it, as there is no Ctrl + Z to undo : )I used a wooden table under the plates, but I don't think it was hard enough, and the plats got a little bit bent after punching in all the numbers. I could bend it back and when attaching the two included screws the two plates were flush against each other anyway.All in all I was happy with the result after completion.

What I liked: The punches make clear letters in the titanium plates. Punching your seed phrase words into the plates vs. the associated BIP-39 or SLIP-39 numbers will make it easier to recover your wallet if you do not have the corresponding word list on hand.The dislike: Punching the seed phrase words into the plates will make it quicker for someone who steals or finds your plates to enter your seed phrase to steal your crypto. Retrieving the punches from the middle rows is a chore if you have man hands. The letters and orientation are not shown on the top of the punch so you have to determine the orientation by looking at the letters, which are printed backwards. Punching out all of the words is very time consuming (technically you only need the first few letters of the word). Unless you take the time to create a grid pattern to align each letter prior to punching, you are going to be left with something that looks like a ransom note. Also, unless you are very careful you are likely to stamp a letter in the wrong orientation.In the end, the system is functional and will likely survive water and fire damage, it just doesn't look good. It's a good, cheap option if you don't want to spend the money on one of the big name systems.
