Robert Chambers does an awesome job of explaining everything there is to know about building a log home. His book is fun to read. I emailed him with a question and he gave me a very thorough reply.

Bought it for my husband, who is building us a log home. He says it's an excellent book! I like the fact that the author sent out more info to us and we can also order videos on "how to". Would recommend this book to future log home builders!

I am not very experienced with construction, but I bought this because my boyfriend is experienced with construction and he and I are seriously considering building a log cabin on some property after we get married. The book is detailed, but explains things and has pictures. My bf said it was everything he needed to build a log cabin and was really impressed with the amount of detail and directions. We will definitely be using this book when we start building!

Robert does an excellent job at explaining a somewhat complex technique for building. This is a book that I will consistently reference in my projects. His photos, tips, and information are well thought out and contain information hard to find or nonexistent in other books. The colored photos are also a big help. Thank you Robert for this work.

The Log Construction Manual was fundamental to being able to put this log cabin together. I am not a builder... Sure, I've built some small normal lumber buildings but never anything that took this much effort and craftsmanship. Robert's methods are so well thought out and so easy to follow. Couple this with his DVD series and you can build something like this too! There simply is no way to overstate the excellence of this manual and the clarity of his methods as they are presented.

This book focus on one kind of notch but it goes very deeply into the subject (deeper than many other books). The author explains clearly every aspect of his technic, with clear schemes.

Both this book and the related DVD set are the most comprehensive resource I have found for Log Construction. While I have many other great log building books & DVDs, this book provides critical insight for both builder and owner of log construction.

This is an excellent book! I haven't had a lot of time to read it that's the only problem. I am thinking of getting the videos.

Used this book as reference and guidance in making two log cabins. (one reminiscent of the old ranger cabins) Most comprehensive and detailed reference book for this area of craftsmanship. Abundance of knowledge and skill shared in language for the reader to understand and follow. Am indebted with all this information that has made the journey that much easier.
