Wow. Just wow.
See update at end...Buying a refurbished PC (desktop or laptop) can be dicey. You never know if you're going to get a hidden gem or an incompetently rebuilt piece of garbage. I have bought about a dozen of them, and promptly returned just more than half. This laptop is by far the most completely refurbed PC I have purchased. It looks new--the screen, the body, even the touchpad (which almost always shows wear) look untouched. It is definitely the nicest laptop I've had. The specs are exactly as listed, down to DDR4 memory and a battery that shows only 24 previous discharge/recharge cycles, far better than most refurbs.A word of advice for purchasers trying to figure out if a purchased refurb will work for them:-Don't expect anything to work well right out of the box. You will have to spend some time getting it in running order. Think of your time spent as balancing the $ you saved buying refurbished! (No, this isn't because the refurbisher didn't do their job. Once they get everything working, they will only do a clean install of Windows. The rest is up to you, just like it would be with a new computer.)-The first thing any Windows machine when you finish the guided set up (IF you connected to a wifi or wired network) is start installing Windows updates. (You can check progress by selecting "Check for updates" from the start menu.) Until all updates are finished, it will be slow. It might even restart seemingly at random. Once you think all updates are installed, reboot and check for updates until it shows "You're up to date". This can take quite some time with a slow network connection, so be sure you're using fast wifi or even plug in an ethernet cable until ALL updates are done.-While updates are installing, check the specs to make sure they are what you bought. Don't assume. The built-in Windows System Information app is a good place to start. There are lots of free apps for reporting on the HDD, memory, and battery. Check Google. If ANYTHING seems off, ask the seller about it. If you don't like the answer, return it!-Next go to the manufacturer's support website and install all available driver updates (including BIOS!). I can't oversell the importance here. Many manufacturers have an app you can download to streamline this process (for HP it is HP Support Assistant). NOTE: If something stops working during this step (function keys or bluetooth are the most likely things to stop working), Google away until you find a solution. Someone has run into the same problem before, and the solution is probably there to be found.-After these steps, you should have a fully functional computer. Test it out and see if it actually meets your needs. If not, contact the seller. If you aren't happy with the response, return it!One word of warning: the touchpad is textured. I can see this bothering some people, but I kind of like it. It makes it really easy to move the mouse precisely vertically, in line with the lines of the texture.I hope this helps someone who is on the edge about whether to buy this or not. Thank you, seller!-----------UPDATE: After using this laptop for a couple of weeks, I thought I should add an update. I do wish the display was a bit better. The colors wash out easily, especially at lower levels. It's also worth noting that the processor on this model is not listed as compatible for the Windows 11 upgrade. Not a big deal to me, but worth noting.

Very nice
This was either refurbished or used, but it looks brand new.No scratches, no signs of apparent use and I'm very pleased with it.It started up as if it was a new computer, so far running very good, like new and so much faster than my old H.P, .....And Price so much better than if I had bought new

Deja Vu
I'm not a big fan of laptops. I worked in industrial automation and dragged plastic fantastic up sand towers, under conveyors, all over creation and balanced them on a handy pipe or held on with one hand and typed or dragged with the other. No choice, you need a self powered machine. It was an evil necessity with a battery good for about half what you need. And floppy displays and little hatches that like to fall off. Programming and troubleshooting the slow way.Lately, I've wanted a portable workbench so I can set up where there is no power. And I wavered on getting a laptop. It has to be light, sturdy, metal, and have minimal parts to fall off. It needs to have good battery life, adequate speed and available spares. It also needs to run Linux Mint. And since it's not my daily driver and I don't desperately need it, I set a budget of $200. The mint thing is important, since I've retired, I will never run Windows again. So, I looked at the vast numbers of off lease and refurbished laptops. This one ticked all the boxes and only cost $150.What I want is a $1000 dollar build and this was in 2015. And HP says it was tested to mil spec.I recieved it and it looks very good. Nothing broken. The top cover has been skinned but, it was well done, all the ports work and the keyboard is pretty good for a laptop, all keys work and the key lights are handy. The display is nice and clear and of a resolution where I can read it. It was billed as excellent and I've found only a couple sniggles. There was a screw missing on the bottom and one other that just spins. It's very fast running Linux mint 22. I've been running it hard for 3 days and haven't noticed any problems and I'm pleased. Others have dissed the screen, but it's bright enough and looks good for my purposes. The battery seems to have life yet, I got 5 hours easily and it said it had an hour left. The M2 SATA SSD had a couple thousand hours on it, but shows no errors and loaded Linux easily. I wish we could have got these out in the real world, but we got plastic cast-offs from accounting. All in all, it's what I wanted and as expected. A new machine wouldn't be any faster for what I do, so it was a good deal. I bought Amazon Renewed so it could go back if there were problems.

Died after ~100 days, just avoiding the warranty terms
About two weeks after the 90 day warranty expired, it totally lost functionality. Routinely freezing for 1-5 seconds, making word processing impossible, and eventually began to spontaneously power down every 10-30 minutes after about 4 months. Took it to best buy and confirmed that it was a hardware issue - almost feels like a planned redundancy to make more money off us. Do not buy Amazon Refurbished if you want something that lasts past the warranty.

Nice laptop
Suits my needs just fine. Using it for music production purposes. Very quick with 16gb memory and a SSD drive. Windows 10 I’d fine for me, doesn’t seem to want to upgrade to 11, but I have no issues with that. Nice clean display. No issues at all.
