Fantastic Book
I erased my old review to rewrite it but I lent out the book so I can thoroughly review it now. But this book has everything you could want to know as an introduction to the physical and chemical properties of soils, with soil formation and classification. I'll rewrite this review later on but this book is so amazing that I think everyone should read it.

I am using this textbook for my Soils class. It is easy to read and has lovely pictures to help explain topics. I haven't used it as much as I should for the class, but it is helpful when I do. Which probably means I should probably read it some more... :)I ordered this book in loose-leaf form and it works perfectly. I have it in a binder with my lab manual. Don't be afraid to save money!

This is a good book, I wish books were not as expensive
I bought this book ($109, new) for a class on soils and the environment. I will be honest, I did not read the whole book. I read a few chapters. I do know that my professor had issues with one or two of the chapters, (chapter 10?), dealing with microbes (so keep an eye out). That being said, its not a hardcover book, and is worded so that you can read it with flow (not choppy writing). This is a good book, I wish books were not as expensive. Shipping was great, arrived on time. The class was great, deep learning about the world of Soils.

it's not like I just one day got outta bed and wanted ...
What can I say? The book was for a class, it's not like I just one day got outta bed and wanted to fricken dirt. I rated it a 5 because the book was useful and reliable, something that college professors will never tell you. It's always MANDATORY, and $180 later, 2 paragraphs read, is what you end up getting out of it for cripe sake.

Looseleaf = portability
I will definitely be buying loose leaf from now on. You can carry it anywhere with you, with as little or many chapters as you like, reducing weight. The condition was new.

Full of quality info
Quality content in this book. I saved some $ by doing loose leaf but would recommend at least paperback. A good one to keep on hand when in the field.

NOT GOOD
I needed this textbook throughout my Soil Science class. I rented it on June 26 and my class end September 6. My school runs on a quarterly system, so the timeline is different. Amazon was unwilling to work with me on this and has charged me late fees even though my class is not even over yet. Very frustrated that I will no longer be able to rent front Amazon

Five Stars
Great quality. It was the international edition but had more information than the Canadian format!

A must have for soil students
I literally owe my first class degree to this book along with Ellis and Mellor's. If you study soil and you don't have this book yet, get it!

unbound papers
Not bound. Terrible book and subject. I want my money back. Useless. Holes rip in paper easy when put in binder. Low quality and cheap.
