Great Tool, useful on the field
I work at a fiber optic internet company, it’s been very useful and it has all my needs on the field. We get optimeters for testing light, they take forever to turn on and there is no VFL on our models. It’s so convenient having instant access to check light levels that you can store in your pocket all the time. The VFL is handy and bright, only downside is after 5-10 minutes it automatically turns off. I wish if the VFL is on then it won’t turn off but it’s not a big deal.I highly recommend calibrating to your fiber optic wavelength and light levels, the out of box experience is good with about 3 DB off but it’s great for a general estimate when it’s not very important. After calibration even after a couple months it’s been accurate and works very well. The battery life is pretty good, it uses 2 AAA batteries and it lasts me about a month or bit more.I love the Ethernet tester that is built onto the removable slot on the bottom. On the field I also work with CAT 6 and it’s great having it on the tool, I never have to carry around a separate Ethernet tester or ever run to my truck to find it. It’s helped me out in situations I never expected. The only major downside I had is the screen. When I first bought it, after about a month half of the screen was not working and was affecting my readings. I exchanged it for a new one and been very careful with the screen and making sure it won’t get dropped or damaged. It’s been a couple months and it’s been working just as it’s new.Overall, I love this tool and it will be a must need for me when I’m on the field.

Great little meter for the money. The red fault locator light is super bright.

Works great, hardly any instructions.
Works perfect. Hold down the “light” button to activate the red dot on the left port. Use it all day in professional atmosphere.

Works well after calibration. VFL Bright. Cat 5 tester works.
Readings were off out of packaging. Followed directions from manual for calibration and dialed it in. LIght readings are where they should be. Now for the other functions, I had to do some playing around to figure out. The manual did not give straight forward instructions on how to run the VFL, or cat 5 testing. For VFL, if you hold the "Light" button down it turns the VFL function on. VFL was brighter than the ones I currently have on hand. Cat 5 tester will, you will need an ethernet cable plugged in each end following holding down another button. I honestly forgot what button I had held down. But it works, cut green cable and had shown that I had lost continuity on the correct wire severed. Was a nice buy for the price given. Would purchase another as it does not break the bank and works as should.Initially bought 12th of July.Update: 8 -6-23 bought a 2nd as it had been very handy.

I actually love this thing
Light meter and visual fault locator in one package. That’s very handy and it’s in a compact form. It’s less than half the size of my company supplied meter. Plus I don’t have to carry two tools when I can carry one.The large backlit screen is also great for my aging eyes. Easy to read.It comes with a single led as a “flashlight” but that’s a really gimmicky feature. I’d never use it for anything, but points for trying. I didn’t buy it for that so no big deal. It also comes with a little lanyard. I should’ve left it off because I keep my meter in a tool pouch. All it does is catch on my needle nose pliers. It’s pretty annoying. The auto shut off feature is nice if you are using the light meter. But not so great if you need if for VFL. The way I use these tools it almost never a factor. I think you can toggle it off, but it’s something to be away of if you need to check continuity of a long fiber run.
