Be Here Now ~~ Learning to Live Each Moment Fully
This is a high quality, simple, straightforward book on mindfulness for beginners. The book is short and engaging and you will finish it quickly because it is so full of great and relevant advice. I wanted the book to be longer; but then realized the greatness of the book is how short and simple it is so the reader may more easily begin to practice mindfulness. A lot of explanation is not needed, just simple direction so the reader can begin practicing the concepts right away. So the book is really the perfect length for an introduction to mindfulness and the serious student/practitioner of mindfulness. As a minister and author myself, I am highly interested in these topics and these studies. I have always been interested in the Zen philosophy and in other Eastern philosophies like mindfulness. As a Bible scholar and one who understands the depth of the instruction of scripture, I can verify that mindfulness is fully consistent with Biblical practice. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Guard your heart (self-view) with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Judge not your brother. Be established in the present truth. Yes, with mindfulness we all can learn to Be Here Now. Put away all those distractions and live each moment fully. That's what it is all about. Excellent book, thank you.

Valid but seems to struggle for content
It’s a great book, and I agree with it extensively. It does seem, however, that some of the acronyms are there as filler and are very difficult to remember. I highly recommend this book as an introduction to mindfulness and the benefits of it, though.

Being Mindful Equals Being Happy, Healthy and Successful
Being in the present and taking notice of the environment, what is happening to you and noticing your emotional state are all traits of mindfulness. Being mindful helps you to be more productive and successful in life, not to mention making you a happy person that is good to be around. The first chapter of the book defines mindfulness and discusses how it relates to many religions, including Buddhism, and society in the western hemisphere. It helps relate the definition to today's lifestyles and how to use mindfulness as an advantage. The importance of living in the present, as opposed to dwelling on the past, is discussed. The book emphasizes acceptance of self and having the ability to choose and follow through with choices. The book explains how mindfulness helps you to become a whole, happy and successful person and how to be mindful in practice. It gives you exercises to enhance mindfulness in your life including breathing exercises, mediation, observations and more. The book goes on to explain how mindfulness affects life, relationships and business dealings. The book provides useful videos and links to other materials to bring home all the techniques it imparts.

After This Book You'll Still Be A Beginner. Substantive It Is Not.
Effectively an appetizer on the topic of mindfulness this book does little more than make the reader aware of the subject. Unfortunately, the title will lead people to think they are getting more than this elongated magazine article. If you have never read an article or other books on mindfulness, then this book can be a good place to start. You won't learn how to live in a constant state of peace and happiness (as promised in the subtitle) but you may have your curiosity piqued. The lack of depth is exemplified by chapter two, where the author "covers" the topic of the importance of living in the present moment in a mere two pages. And by chapter nine, where how mindfulness is important in your everyday life receives a mere seven paragraphs and is just over a page in length. Substantive it is not. This scant exposure to such a potentially life-changing practice will hopefully whet your appetite to learn more, but it will not get you into the beginner's stage of mindfulness. Think of this as a book for crawlers. For those who want to begin the baby steps of mindfulness, I'm afraid you will need to start elsewhere.
