Good product
Nice storage case. Performed very well and accurate for my first time ever using one. Moving the dial .05 means you will be taking a .1 cut. IE .05 of each side of your circle. Although one of my boring bars is slightly oversize and does not fit in the boring head.. I’m more concerned with its overall accuracy and it’s very accurate.

Works well
Solid quality, well made and finished. Everything works almost flawlessly. I'd buy again.

Totally worth the money! I got -+.00015 run-out on a 100mm hole!
Very impressed at the quality of this cutter for the price! It feels very precision, however I did have to tinker with the 3 gib screws in order to get the head to move smoothly without any "slop" but that's typical with any boring head that uses a taper/gib setup. Run-out is irrelevant, since the tool is supposed to run off-set by design, but even still.. the static upper-section is very straight, and I only measured about .0005 to .001 run-out in 5 separate, complete setup/tear downs, so at least it's consistent! For a home shop, and anyone running a sub 3HP mill, this is more than adequate, and can easily produce bores that match the highest level of accuracy you can produce with any other tool using your equipment. So if you can achieve +-.0015 on your mill, then you should be able to hit that with this head, if the best your mill will do it +-.002 then that's what I would expect with this boring head and well. Definitely worth the money! Glad I didn't buy the cheaper versions through.

Nice Boring head.
Ill start with the disappointment. The R8 draw bar threads were poorly tapped, my draw bar would only start a few threads. This was disappointing on a $200+ head it may have been expected on a $47 Harbor freight unit. Originally I was going to deduct a couple stars until I used the boring head.I was very happy with the rest of the package. The boring bars were high quality and with the replicable carbides makes a nice package. After mounting it in my mill and boring a few holes in some half inch scrap I was quite happy with it, thus the 5 star rating. I didn't feel it was fare to be negative when the tool did perform very well as intended!!This appears to be the same set as sold by Shars???

Great for my purposes
No complaints about the boring head itself or the bard included. I've used it boring up to 4.5" holes in 2" 316L SS flanges that were too big to bore in my lathe. The inserts that come with it, however, are basically crap (that's what I expected); you'll need to find some reputable brand inserts from your favorite supplier. I currently am partial to SECO inserts.

Backwards
The over-all quality of this tool is close to okay for it's intended purpose. I had to give it a lower rating because the graduations are hard to read, the numbering is incrementing backwards and the carrying case that came with is cracked. The boring bars that come with this head seem decent; however, they are a bit undersized on their shank diameter compared to the hole diameter on the boring head. There's about .002 clearance between the two, but that doesn't seem to affect how it works. One thing that surprised me about this tool... I was able to take a .060 cut off the diameter (.030 per side), which was rather impressive for these types of tools. I also checked the distance the boring head moved per graduation and it is close. .30 on the boring head dial gave me .015 on my indicator. Taking a .030 off the diameter will result in cut about .0025 undersized because of tool deflection. You can bore again at the same setting and get within .0005. It will take a bit of testing to get this to work and know how it's going to cut in different materials. If the graduations were easier to read, I would give it a 3 star rating. If the graduations were easier to read and incremented in the right direction, I would give it a 4 star rating. For now I'm on the fence on whether to send it back and spend a little more on a Criterion boring head and a set of indexable-insert boring bars.

Quality product!
The fit and finish on this boring head is very good. I need a small boring head for a project and did not want to get a cheap or expensive one. I thought this one with the insert boring bars would be ok and I was impressed with the quality. It looks better in person then the pictures. I used the boring bar on a welded part that got very hard after welding. I broke one corner of one insert but took it easy after that and it worked well also.
