it's lightweight
Bought this sander to paint-prep the frames around my garage doors and the fascia boards on a large bakyard shed. Both were weather-beaten, with old flaking paint chaff plus shallow, topographical map-like areas of forever adhered, original paint on them. Since I was going to be standing on stools & ladders, often using it vertically, I sure didn't want anything heavy. I also wanted to avoid cords, since they can easily tangle and otherwise get in the way when you're not doing horizontal work. This sander takes 8 hole sanding discs that DON'T come with it. The sander's paper pad has a super velcro-like surface that immediately grabs hard and holds the sandpaper discs like superglue. This model is variable speed, and its speed button is adjacent to the power button on the hand saddle, a nice touch for max efficiency. Holding this unit against vertical surfaces for a few hours doesn't strain your muscles because it's so lightweight. The dustbag attaches/detaches easily, and does a good job of preventing a dust storm in your face. It sanded down all framing and molding quite well, adequately smoothing the stuck-on-forever areas of old paint until my touch test revealed it to be lump/bump /crevice free enough to feel confident that new primer & paint will adhere well. The unit comes with a charger and one of DeWalt's batteries; this battery took about an hour charge time for at least 1.5-2 hours run time. It's a little hard to shove the battery into its slot, and the same for removing it for charging, but I think that'll change in time. I really like everything about its design, and hope that the longevity that other reviewers have testified to will be true for this one, too.

Another good product from Dewalt
Batteries last a decent amount of time. This is variable speed but I just leave it on high. I gave away my corded sander as this works the same.

So far so good
Seems to do pretty good. Wood is a hardwood 60grit keep in mind I hate sanding and not very good at it lol. Battery lasted easily 30min and 20 of the minutes was full speed still had 1 bar in tiny battery after 30 min so not bad. Suggest having a few batteries handy for larger projects. Small battery seemssd to do fine large battery would make it much heavier keep that in mind. Sandpaper although only one run stuck great. Do not let it hang over to one side to much or liable to mess up Velcro. Il try to post a link of sandpaper I used was reasonable priced . Shipping was pretty fast 2-3 days packages nice came with food nctuining charger as seen in pic carry bag will come in handy , directions if u need them and x1 small battery. Not a bad price I didn't think I needed the battery and charger already had a few but since purchase date I actually ordered a sawzall and a jigsaw which did not come with batteries so inevitably I will need this battery and charger 🤣🤷. So far is great hate reviewing electronics to early but I have faith I. This little sander. Previously used a little corded Ryobi that worked for ever but it took a dump the other day lol. Sick of cords so chose this route and so far very pleased. 🤘

Not a panacea, but darn good!
This is a great little hand sander with all the bells and whistles you could hope for in its price range. I have another hand sander that I like well enough, but this is a random orbit that makes it useful to polish my vintage Alfa roadster in addition to woodworking. The dust collection bag seems always to be well filled, but it is not 100%. It's a good idea to wear a mask to filter out the rest. Some of the attractive features are also the ones that are detrimental. With a round surface orbiting randomly it is impossible to get into corners very closely, one advantage of my other hand sander is the squared base which allows closer passes in the corners. IMHO, this was money well spent.

Easy to handle
Sands well but small dewalt shop vac would help collect fine sanding better
