Carlson Pet Yard and Convertible Super Wide Gate

I am absolutely thrilled with my new black dog gate! As someone who lives on the first floor, I was looking for a way to secure my outside patio while still allowing it to feel personal and inviting. This gate was just the solution I was looking for! It was incredibly easy to secure to the brick, and it has held up extremely well so far. I also love the fact that the door opens without any issues, making it easy for me to come and go as I please. And let's not forget how amazing it looks! The black color is sleek and modern, and it adds the perfect touch of style to my patio.One of the best things about this gate is that it allows my dog to roam as she pleases without us worrying about her running out on her. The gate provides a safe and secure barrier that gives us peace of mind, while still allowing our furry friend to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.Overall, I would highly recommend this gate to anyone who is looking for a high-quality and stylish way to secure their outdoor space and keep their furry friends safe. This is THE BEST puppy playpen you can get! Please note, that I went to the manufacturers website and purchased two additional panels, so what you see in my pictures is the 4 you get from Amazon PLUS two more.This is the THIRD playpen setup I have been through for my little Houdini. The first was the highly rated 24” Iris plastic playpen, which lasted all of two weeks before she learned to put her paws in the bars and climb out. Then I bought another solid sided one and zip-tied it to the inside of it so she couldn’t get her paws through and climb out. That lasted about two months until she learned to yo-yo hop until she could reach the top with her front paws and climb out that way. So I began the search for a new one and came across this one. So far it’s escape-proof! Vertical bars so she can’t climb out, 28” so she can’t jump out or even get close to the top!It’s extremely sturdy and super easy to assemble. I love that I can shape it to fit whatever area I need. I took the advice of another reviewer and set it up so that the door opens inward. It saves space and helps with training.I wish I had found this one to start with, it would have saved me a ton of money, but you live and learn. It will last a lifetime so don’t waste your time or money on anything else and get this one!

All I can say is WOW! This play pen is easy to assemble. It literally took a total of 10 minutes to set up. You can pick which shape you want (circle or rectangle) to fit it in any space! I love how they have an additional option of buying more panels if you want it to be bigger for your puppy when they become an adult. It is also VERY sturdy! There is NOWAY your dog is pushing this pen over. It’s made of metal and feels so nice to the touch. I know the listing says off white but to me it looks pure white which I’m so happy about! It matches my doors and trim in the house which makes it stand out less!! It just looks SO NICE. It’s just enough room to fit a pee tray, bed, food bowls and a couple of toys with still some room for playing! I also love how you have two options on how you want the doorway to open (either in-wards or out-wards) it really makes a difference when your trying to fit it in a certain space. The door stays open which is another positive for me so my puppy can go in and out all day if she wants! The lock on the door is easy to open but sturdy enough that your dog will never be able to open the clasp! The pee tray I’m using is (Petkit Pura dog pet training pad) 20.5 X 15.35. It was hard finding one to fit to still leave your puppy as much playing space as you can! I also recommend getting a reusable pee pad for underneath to protect your floors from accidents! I have been using this pet yard indoors for an 11 week old puppy. It looks good in the home, is easy to configure, and can be quickly set up in multiple configurations. It is high enough to keep puppy in, but low enough that I can lean over the top and quickly pick up the pup if need be (important for housebreaking).I ordered two additional panels for the Pet Yard to expand its size. It is currently set up like a rectangular run that is 6 feet long and 2 feet wide (using the two additional panels). The walk through gate ties the configuration up nicely. I put my pup's 24 inch crate inside the "run" at one end - and it has worked out beautifully. I open her crate and she is free to play and eat. I could not be more pleased with this purchase.While this pet yard fits the bill for my needs with a puppy, it is not sturdy enough to contain a large adult dog. I also have a 55 lb. Pitbull/Boxer mix and would not think of putting her in it and expecting her to be contained. But for a pup or smallish dog - you cant go wrong. The fact that it converts to a gate with the purchase of some extra hardware ($15) is a bonus too.UPDATE 4//2014I am still using this pet yard daily and it has been nearly six months since I purchased it. My hi-energy now 8-month old pup is 40 pounds and 15 inches high at the shoulder - she's into everything. I use this yard to keep her out of trouble when I am in another room and away from the senior dog in the house. She has just recently started trying to jump out - and luckily has not yet been successful. While I'd buy this product again, next time I would be more cognizant and careful with the plastic knobs/hinges that keep the panels in their configuration as they tend to strip out. As my puppy got older - she started leaning against the panels and then pushing against them which would eventually loosen the hinges which allowed the panels to move out of their original configuration. So, my rectangular shaped run (6 feet long X 2 feet with two extra panels purchased separately) would begin to look like a hexagon on one side. I'd simple push the panels back into alignment and tighten the knobs down really tight until she eventually worked the panels out again. Over months of her pushing on the panels and me pushing them back and re-tightening the knobs down as tight as I could - we have a few stripped hinges that no longer secure some of the panels in their place. Since I use this yard in a rectangular setup - I recently attached a 6 foot long 1X2 along the bottom of each side with some tie wraps which stops the pup from being able to push any of the panels out of configuration. This fixed the problem for my setup once and for all. This solution won't work if you use the yard in an octagonal configuration as shown in the picture - so the trick is to preserve the integrity of the hinge assemblies from the get go.The knobs have a plastic top, but a metal, bolt type thread. This metal thread (bolt) screws into the lower part of a round toothed hinge - which is entirely plastic. This plastic threaded hinge receptacle is where the failure occurs as the threads get weak over time. I have therefore removed one star from my original rating. If Carlson would simply make the threaded portion of the lower hinge out of metal too, then the threads would maintain their integrity and not strip over time - making this a perfect product and 5 stars! But even with this flaw, I feel as though I surely got my money's worth from this pet yard, and well - so did my pup as she did not have to be cramped up in a traditional kennel cage when I was home, but unable to keep my eyes on her.
