Best Coding Toy For Young Kids
This little snail is amazing. I code the majority of my day for my job so I wanted to find something to introduce my kids to coding as well. This toy has it all.First, it is screen-free so doesn't require them to sit in front of a computer or tablet to use it. Major win for a 3 and 5 year old who don't need more screen time.Second, the concepts it teaches are spot on for the basics of programming. Simple commands, if/then conditions, loops, user input requirements, etc. These are fundamental to understanding how to code and this toy teaches it so well. My 5 year old loved the game-like tutorial and caught on rather quickly with solving each challenge with the puzzle cards. Very similar to the real world where a set of requirements are given and you must code to meet those. In this case the snail must reach a gem with certain requirements for it's path along the way.Third, the opportunity for experimentation. The tutorial is set up so there are a few different ways to accomplish the same objective. Another real world concept. Two or three different paths may all get the snail to the goal. It is a nice opportunity to teach the child about efficiency in coding. If the child does the wrong card or command they get to see the consequences as the snail has a river card it can "drown" in. Showing children that their code may not work is so important because that's how real coding works. Getting children to understand how to experiment, fix and adjust their "code" until the "program" works is critical. I absolutely love how this snail and the puzzle cards along with the map teach them that. They can physically see their program execute as the snail moves along the cards. If it's wrong they see that the snail did not complete it's journey as expected and can pick up and move the puzzle cards and try again. This is very helpful for young kids who can't conceptualize what executing lines of code on a computer really does. The snail makes it all tangible.Fourth, you can put Legos on the snail. My 3 year old picked up on the puzzle cards and how to build paths for the snail but his attention span is not great to stick with that. The big draw for him was building contraptions on top of the snail to carry "passengers" while his sister built the path for the snail. The free play ability with the snail is endless. Once done with the tutorial the child can build whatever they like and come up with their own challenges and games. As a bonus, my kids always have a little dance party of their own when the snail hits the dance card. While I was a bit disappointed the snail itself didn't do a little wiggle dance, the kids don't seem to care. The snail, cards and map are all very durable and have held up well. The snail has been dropped more than once and is perfectly fine. I was surprised by the quality and have had no issues with anything after 3+ months of play.Highly recommend for those looking to introduce kids to coding!

Defective
The media could not be loaded. I think the idea behind this coding toy is fantastic, but the execution is poor. The cute little robot came uncharged. It took 4 hours to completely charge. Once it was in game mode, it could not follow the pattern. It veered off the cards and instead of turning left, just went in a complete circle. It would roll off the cards and just keep saying ‘operational error’. Because I really want this to work, I am returning for another. I’m hoping this was just one that got by quality control. I will update after I receive a replacement.Update: I just received a replacement and am happy to report that it works as described. My 3 year old grandson enjoys placing the coding cards down and watching how well the robotic snail follows directions. It will occasionally ally veer off course and say “operational error”, but once reset, it usually will continue on. Great idea for beginning coding for pre schoolers. Seller was very attentive and responsive.

Fun and educational - Programming concepts made easy
I bought the Qobo robot toy for my 4-year-old twins, and they absolutely love it! It's a fantastic gift for any child who wants to learn programming skills while having fun. My twins easily grasped how to play with it and started enjoying it immediately. The toy helps them plan the movements of the robot, and they love watching it follow their instructions step by step to reach the goal. The instructions include simple commands like if-then conditions, user input, colors, and more. The coding cards are logic-filled, allowing kids to piece together a variety of interesting paths. The toy is ready to code right out of the box and doesn't require a phone or tablet. Overall, I highly recommend this educational and entertaining toy for kids.

Fantastic Introduction Educational Toy
The media could not be loaded. This small snail is not slow in teaching basic new concepts to your little one. My niece found it fun and captivating. The cards make the initial set up easy and offer lots of possibilities. The variety of colors it flashes and noises were most entertaining- age group appropriate. It charges very fast, so it can be played with quickly and often. The option to plug it in to a computer will offer further options as skills develop.A wonderful toy to begin introducing one of the key skills of the 21st century to your child.

Mostly good, needs work
The programming is fun and relatable for kids. The cards, where they connect, can have the surface peel off with use, which is unfortunate. The Snail itself...if something goes wrong, there's very little you can do. My gkids were having lots of fun, then it just stopped responding. The light is stuck on green, can't start it, can't turn it off...nothing. Supposedly there's software updates, but can't find them on their website. So I guess I just let the battery run down and hopefully it resets, then I can charge it again (???)As it is, even though it was great while it worked, I can't recommend it for others.

Good logic game
I have a three and six year old, and this game is pretty awesome so far. Simple directions, but entertaining. Younger kids need more instruction, but that's not necessarily bad. Still getting into it, but the potential for free play is really good, especially with the later program options

I'm a STEM teacher and I love this!
I have several different coding devices in my STEM room and I have been searching for something that would work better for my little ones. I see all grades at our school and I always have a hard time with kindergarten and first grade activities. These are perfect!!!!!! My kids are loving them and they are super coding friendly. I love that the coding cards are simple enough for the kids to problem-solve on their own. This coding kit is extremely well done and I will be purchasing more of these in the future.
