My Rodzon External DVD Drive arrived this week simply, but well packaged and with Amazon's usual speedy service. It's a sleek looking unit that has a quality feeling weight to it without being bulky. The USB 3.0 power cord is integrated into the unit and easily tucks away into a groove on the underside of the DVD Drive when not in use. The addition of a USB C adapter is a nice little bonus. I've used the Rodzon External DVD Drive several times this week on a couple of different laptops just to give it a good test run. It worked flawlessly and performed better than expected. Both laptops are running Windows 10 and recognized the device immediately. It was plug-and-play as advertised. I burned some audio CD's to check out the performance and quality and was not disappointed. The write speed was great and the resultant CD's played without a hitch in my car CD player. I am very comfortable recommending the Rodzon External DVD Drive to anyone in the market for an economical, no frills external DVD reader/writer.

I have upgraded my laptop to a newer, faster one, but still have some hardware that requires a CD or DVD to install to make those things work. Not only that, but I create music and videos and give those disks to friends/family. So I needed a way to still create those disks with a laptop that no longer features a CD/DVD drive. This external drive definitely serves that purpose, without drivers or incompatibilities. NO JOKE !. You plug it in and it works - flawlessly. Now I have NOT tried every option in Windows 10, but I use NERO Platinum suite for copying DVD's or CD's. It is completely PLUG and PLAY for this software. Now I've only been using this drive for a month or so, but all my driver disks worked to set up my scanner and printer, not to mention the drivers for my two Canon cameras. I also burned CD's and DVD's on this drive and had no problems using them on DVD players or CD players. Unlike some other CD/DVD drives, this one allows writing (burning) too. Some DVD drives do NOT burn disks - they only read. The construction appears to be fairly solid on this drive so I imagine it will fill my needs for 5 years or more with light to moderate use. Requires a USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 connection to function, but most new hardware already support that.

As the Headline states I was asked by the seller to review this drive. With that being said here we go.Okay the casing for the unit is will made and it doesn't have a lip over the drive door like so many other drives have, so it's very easy to use the drive no matter how you may have it sitting.The drive slade doesn't hang on coming out or when you close it, so big plus for there.As for the drive it's a DVD RW drive. I have tested this drive with Windows 10 64 bit pro / home. It just works right out of the box. I have tested it will ubuntu linux and it works without having to try to find drivers to make it work right.I have tried to test it with Android and it doesn't work with any version of Android from 5.1 - 9.0. This drive doesn't have the firmware needed for it to show up as a USB Storage device. So if that is something you would like or need please look at a different drive.As for playing DVD movies it does it good it doesn't get to loud as it's spinning.As for burning it does a good job as a 10x speed the few times I could get it to go past 10x it would turn the disk into a coaster. I found that if you don't have a USB 3 port forget about being able to burn with this drive, as it doesn't have a 2nd USB to get the needed power for the drive to work as a burner on a system without USB 3. As for the USB type c adapter it does work but I had to test it on a friends iPad as I don't have any type C devices.Just a note if you get this drive look at getting a USB 3 extension cable as this drives fixed cable it only about 3 or 4 inches long. It will work as a DVD only drive with a USB 2.0 cable.So to close this review out, I would say this would be a great drive for those that have a laptop that it's drive is not working right. That or as a stand alone cheap DVD drive for for a HTPC.

Looking for an external DVD/CD (writeable) drive as a backup. Current laptop has one built in, but will be upgrading to a new laptop in the next few months and many are NOT coming with DVD/CD drives anymore, so wanted to make sure I had a working external USB DVD/CD drive in advance so that having or not having a built in one would not influence my laptop purchase decisionsIn regards to this USB DVD/CD drive, it seems to be working fine (the little bit of testing of it I have done). My Windows 10 laptop recognized it quickly and I was able to use it without loading any additional software (I just used the Windows 10 burning software). The USB drive seemed to be comparatively as fast as my laptop's built-in one. The included, attached USB cord was of a decent length and I like that it "folds in" to the back of the unit itself. The USB to USB-C adapter was included and I tested it on both. Worked fine. The drive was received promptly, securely packaged, undamaged. Though I can't speak to the durability/longevity of the drive, it appears to be of a reasonably good construction quality. I would recommend this drive to anyone looking for a good, reasonably priced external DVD/CD USB drive.

I’ve had this Rodzon brand external drive for my HP Gaming Laptop for about 7 months now and I love it! I had bought another brand before with my other laptop and it died within a month. This is a pretty great product for a very reasonable price compared to others I’ve looked at; don’t buy one of the cheaper ones! It’s fits perfectly right next to my laptop so I don’t ever feel like it’s in the way at all! It’s so lightweight, easy to store in my laptop bag, it is nice and quiet (doesn’t make that annoying spinning or any strange clicking noises), is very high speed, and doesn’t get hot!! It will play DVD’s, CD’s, Games, burn movies and music, and has a great little USB Type-C Adapter for the newer laptops. Perfect addiction for all of the newer laptops that don’t have the disc drive anymore! You’ll be surprised how much you use this! Thank you so much!

It worked great for a while, then it stopped.I then realised that the DVD can be tricked into thinking the drive is open when it isn't. I think it happens when I unplug it while the tray is open. When I plug it in the next time the eject button doesn't work and there is no response at all from the DVD either by pressing the button or from my laptop.I found that if I open it by sticking a pin in the emergency eject hole, it became responsive again.I've had to do this three times in the last four months.Other than that, it's cheap and it works.

Lo compre para conectarlo a una tablet con windows lo he usado 4 veces y la bandeja donde se pone el disco se ha descuadrado y tengo que empujarlo desde la esquina donde está el descuadre para que cierre no es un buen producto

Con MacBook Air M1 funciona bien, al menos de momento.!!

Al tener una Mac siempre es un poco engorroso todo el tema de los DVDs, ya que solo tiene puertos usb c. Este DVD es lo mejor, no he tenido ningún problema con el y tiene un espacio en la parte de abajo para guardar el cable y el propio adaptador que trae para USBC. Sin duda lo mejor.
