Nice point to point kit
Great kit, wasn't expecting Point to point but it is a cool build. Very through instructions with drawings. I wouldn't say this is for a beginner but I'm sure anyone can manage it if they can solder and has patience for tight spaces. Great sounding pedal with two gain settings, I like to use it with my Plexi pedal kit I built to really get a full fat sounding distortion with overtones. MOD kit's are very well documented and high quality.

couldn't get it work -- really tough build and crazy wiring
not their fault I bit off. a bit more than I could chew on this one-- a more difficult build than the MOD102 tube amp, which was not easy and required some skill building. I am working on easier pedals for now

DC leakage nightmare
Pros: instructions are great, all parts were present, moderate challenge to keep your brain going, and cheap.Cons: while it works and sounds good, my kit had a problem with DC leakage when using any AC adapter (even a high quality BOSS filtered adapter). Up to -5mV leaking in spikes to the output which caused consistent crackling noises. I ordered six better quality replacement capacitors and tried that--no luck. Disconnected the LED--no luck. At this point I'm not willing to swap out the pots, so I gave up on this kit. If i cared about it a bit more, I could probably solve it, but it doesn't sound THAT good. Other folks had a good time with this kit, I guess I'm just lucky.

Nice kit with good sound variations. (easy to mod for more features)
Sturdy build with tube protector.Build instructions need some extra info for new builders. (such as how to mount the transistor correctly)Really like the options for different tubes to modify the sound.Kit is pretty easy to mod additional features.Con: power connector on side of box instead of the top. This makes it odd to wire on a pedalboard

and functioned just fine. The instructions were outstanding
I just built this kit, which I ordered directly from Mod DIY. Its the first pedal kit that I have built, although I do have a fair amount of electronics experience. Overall, I was impressed with the kit. All the parts were included, and functioned just fine. The instructions were outstanding, particularly if you use the high-res picture of the inside of a finished model for reference. There was ONE step omitted in the direction, which was to solder a short wire between terminal 3 of the toggle switch to connection 12 on the junction rail. But that was easy to spot.Performance-wise, the kit exceeded my expectations. It has very low noise, and the tubes are awesome. The only complaint I have is the volume is a bit under powered, as I was not able to achieve unity with the other pedals on my board using the low-gain 5751 tube (pedal on/off- volume matched was not possible). That was unfortunate, because it was my favorite tube for adding clean warm shimmer to lead tones. If anyone has a fix for boosting the volume (not the boost toggle which adds too much distortion) I would love to hear it.So, its not perfect, and I suspect the parts are average, not excellent. But the pedal has earned a spot on my board, and for $100, I'm quite satisfied and recommend this kit.
