Profound work for social workers, foster/adopt families and general interest...
This latest work will thoughtfully guide all readers touched by the adoption constellation.( Birth parents, Adoptive parents, Adopted person.) Fresh insights, solid research and 60 years of adoption work by the authors makes this a must have book in your library. My only regret is not having this resource 20 years ago as I helped pregnant women make the life altering choice about parenting vs. placing their baby for adoption. As an adoptive parent of a now 50 year old I see my missteps that made our journey difficult.

Thorough, complete, useful and readable
Reading Seven Core Issues in Adoption and Permanency is the most informative and useful book I have read on adoption and foster care. I run a nonprofit that provides services to former foster youth, and the information in this book is invaluable in understanding the population we serve. It is now on the top of the list of essential reading for all our mentors so that they can better understand the young people we serve. The book is written in a way that is very readable - no psychobabble or vague references. The 90+ years of joint experience of the two authors shows in every page, every example, every explanation of what it is like for the child, and for each of the other Constellation members involved in the adoption and foster care arena. We work hard to support our volunteers who are mentors to this population, and the details in this book helps us to provide stories, ask appropriate questions, and paint a picture of who these young women are and what they are facing, and have faced.I offer this review with the utmost respect for the authors and the work that went into this book as well as the years of on-the-ground experience that is behind it.I cannot rate this book highly enough. If you are a person who has anything to do with adoption or foster care, this is worth your time and money.
