The best bladed fan I've ever had. . .
The media could not be loaded. It's that time of the year folks! Everybody who can't afford a Dyson superfan rushes out and buys a cheap generic white plastic fan! I do it every year . . .but not this year. No more plastic for me. I want good old fashioned metal muscle - teeth - power and a bit of a looker. I found it. I'll just say it from the get go - I'm a big fan of this fan! What do you get? It's a meaty bit of kit and arrived well packaged. I have uploaded a few pics of the item unboxed so you can see all the parts.Pretty easy to put together - two people would make it much easier but it is doable if on your own. Simply put it's just a case of building the stand - attaching the motor - attach the back mesh guard - attach the fan - attach the front mesh guard! You will need a philips/crosshead screwdriver and It took me about ten minutes. There is an instruction booklet of course. It definitely has a retro/vintage look and feel about it which I like a lot.How does it feel?Okay, this is 'all' metal folks. The only plastic parts are the dial and the oscillilation button - that's it! I also checked the entire casing/stand/blades/guard with a magnet - trust me - it is all metal! The build quality of this fan (in my opinion) is first class. It has a weighty solid feel to it. It has been built to last. How does it work/perform?It has two knobs. It's bi-knobule. The on/off knob also cycles the power of the fan through it's three speeds and the oscillation knob is just up or down to sweep the fan or keep still! In use - brilliant! The lowest setting is great for my bedroom on these hot steamy nights were having right now. I had it about six foot away and oscillating and it kept the whole room cool until I woke up freezing at 4am to turn it off.I'd say (for me) the middle and highest setting are for bigger rooms. I've got it on the middle setting right now at 10am in my living room and it's nice and cool. Later on when the house is in full sun about midday onwards I will crank it up fully to blast cool air around the room and it does keep it nice and comfortable which is a relief from these 80° plus temps we've been having here the last few weeks. It's pretty quiet on the lowest setting given the volume of air it puts about. Obviously it gets louder as you speed it up. I've put a short video up of it going through the settings so you can get a feel for the noise and how it works.I checked on the Swan website and it's a few quid more expensive on there so you're saving a few quid here. Also they quote it pushes 38 meters cubed of air per hour around on it's highest setting. If you can visualize that - it's quite a lot so that's all good.A few stats . . .45WClass 23 Speed settingsAir flow: 38m3/HOscillation functionAdjustable tiltSelf assembly requiredDiameter: 12 inchesDimensions: 35 x 26.5 x 47cmTo finish up - I can definitely recommend this fan if you're browsing fans and have come to this point! It ain't cheapo plastic rubbish - It's an all metal air pushing machine from a bygone era.Update 7th July - My partner has now bought one after seeing mine!Update 26th Aug - Just dismantled the fan and reboxed it for storage until next year. Life saver 👍🏻

Great power
Good power and the colour is really nice... the lock doesnt work great and at times the top is too heavy and falls down with the weight. The noise level is still loud but i wouls still recommend this item with that in mind... it's great at cooling the area and very powerful on all 3 settings. Glad i bought it

Well made and sturdy fan
It's a solid fan, works well. Wouldn't recommend it for use overnight as it's pretty noisy. Looks good.

Stylish. Controls on rear which is a bit of a stupid design flaw!
Very stylish. Bit on the large side so check you have space. Only downside is the controls are on the back which means every-time I use it I have to lift/move it to reach them. Bit of a stupid design flaw!

Great fan, really strong airflow
Lovely fan, really powerful, not silent obviously, but not too loud especially considering how brilliantly powerful it is, even during a recent heatwave I only used it on the first setting. Great value and performance and pleasingly retro appearance. 5 stars

It's OK, not as great as I'd hoped
Pros:Easy to put togetherBlows air about the place effectively, even on the lowest settingSturdyCons:As noisy as my 20yo plastic fan I bought it to replace so have had to put it across the room, or up the telly volume a good few notches (although volume doesn't increase too much if you increase the speed)Doesn't tilt muchPlastic controls seem a bit flimsy (and naff in terms of design) compared to the unit as a wholeMetal base with thin edges that could scratch some surfacesThe wire is attached to the rotating part rather than the base so it moves, which the cats are a bit too interested in

One of the best fans around
The longevity of these fans seem to be great as I had a previous same model and lasted around four years been on several hours every day no fan last forever……. The neutral colours of these fans will go with any decoration they look great nice positive feel to the control knobs…… The base of this fan however does not seem quite such good quality as the previous model but nonetheless I am extremely happy with it….. simple to take apart to clean.

Looks nice but loud and eventually cuts out
This has a good output of air, and has served us well over a few years of heat waves but rattles like nothing else. Possibly due to our assembly but it’s hard to sleep with it on nonetheless. We persevered until last week it started sparking from the cord (where attached to motor) as it oscillated in my sons bedroom (thank god I noticed when I went in to check on him)!! I went to try it again today and it’s gone to fab heaven. Looks lovely on the dresser when not in use but sadly not one we will take a chance on again.
