Great recipes and delightful writing
I bought the book for the recipes, which I had heard were good (and they are!). But I read it with great gusto all the way through because it is so delightfully written. This is a good cookbook, with recipes written so that you are moved to make things you never made before. Making falafel from scratch? So easy that you wonder why you never did it before. Making tortillas? A snap! (Who among us gringos knew that?) The book is encouraging and easy to follow, with much room for adaptation. It's got complicated recipes, but very few of those, and even the complicated ones are written well so that you know you can be successful. This may not be a book designed for a beginner cook, but it will reassure the beginner and meet the needs of the experienced cook with clever and interesting recipes. And there's a bonus. This is a good bathroom book. Buy it and read it, make the dishes, enjoy the results, and then keep it in your bathroom for entertaining reading. You, your family, and your guests will be glad you did.

The granola recipe is delicious and the advice on different foods made my trip to the grocery a lot of fun! My doctor loved the titled and said he needed to get a few copies to share with his patients! Thanks for offering practical help to heal my colon craziness! I feel better everyday I experiment!

I love this cookbook
I love this cookbook. But, my copy is missing pages 31 - 62. I'm still trying to get a hold of amazon to get a replacement.

An unfunny book
I bought then returned this book. The recipes were definitly in the stuffy gourmet category. Many of the recipes I would never make and seemed like a lot of work using ingredients that I didn't have just hanging out in the pantry. Better off reading a book about foods to avoid or eat more frequently, then incorporating them with recipes you can find in healty fast recipe cookbooks. I also thought this book would make a good gag gift for my brother who has some "issues", but it really wasn't that kind of book.
