IPS Panel, support is difficult, buy 2 if you can afford it...
It is a large monitor which is impressive. The colors are good though not sure the accuracy, I have never owned an IPS panel before so supposedly the colors are more accurate than a "regular" monitor. Every monitor I have seen the colors are off from one to the next even two identical screens sitting next to each other, what looks good in one could be off a little to a lot depending on the screen. This one, looks good that is the only thing I can go by, I don't have a color meter or any way to test color accuracy. For web design, graphic art, photo editing this screen is easier to see what you are doing compared to the 23" AOC Monitor I have. Internet browsing is really nice on this as well. It is 1920 x 1080 resolution, I have to increase font size to read anything on this monitor, it makes font's really small so reading facebook can be interesting but like anything you get used to it.You have 90 days for full warranty support at no charge though if you need a replacement before sending the current one back you have to use a credit card and pay whatever you paid for the monitor from your receipt which you have to send to them along with a special form they send in Excel format, .xls.Support is not very on the ball from my experience so far, you have to continually contact them to get any information about your RMA#. They will not advise you about times or how long the process will take, even tell you if they charge your card unless you contact them. Support is mainly provided through email, they do have 800#'s but email is where you get any real information. Also once you are assigned to a customer rep that is who you work with so if they leave for vacation, go home early or aren't working that day you are out of luck on knowing anything until they come back. Never experienced this before with any support, it is almost as if it is a small mom and pop organization, they have to email the warehouse to get information about the shipment and if they don't get any email then they don't know and calling on the phone to get information they refer you back to email and the person you were assigned to even if they aren't there so you have to wait. If you have to RMA anything to or from AOC you won't know anything until the shipment arrives at your door and your credit card is charged or credited. Don't look for any quick resolution via AOC support. This is my experience, you may have a better one.2 weeks before the 90 days were up my monitor began to flash the screen rapidly and very faint / dim horizontal and vertical lines appeared on the screen. You can't see them unless you put up a dark grey color on the screen but they are there. So that very day I contacted AOC support and got an RMA# and gave my credit card to get cross shipment. An hour or so later the screen went back to normal so it is intermittent and at the very beginning stage of whatever the problem is. I am afraid to turn the monitor off or let it go blank so I turned off the feature in my operating system to turn off the screen after certain amount of time of inactivity. I do not know if this is a common problem with this brand or model of monitor but within the first 90 days mine began to show this defect. They pay for both way shipping within the first 90 days of purchase but you have to use a credit card to cross ship if you want the replacement before sending back the defective unit, say if it still is useable and you don't have another. After the 90 day period you pay for shipping and possibly limited repair costs, after 1 year throw it away and buy a new one the cost of service will be about or more than a new one. Amazon price fluctuates a lot so you may get a better deal then too. Most monitors well last between 2 to 5 years and probably at least one RMA in there some where. These monitors are warrantied against defect for up to 3 years but in practical terms after 1 year and something goes wrong buying a new one is going to save huge hassle, money and waiting. It will happen either in the first 90 days or around 1 year in my experience if a monitor is going to be defective that is when it will go out or start to. Between 3 to 6 years is around normal life span, I have never had a monitor last more than 6 years even CRT's so look at buying new monitors around that time period as they start to go out on you. This model has many features and settings that dramatically change the look and feel of what you see on the screen. Out of the box you have to set Over Drive, Eco Mode, Clear Vision and RGB to the settings you prefer. Even though this is a IPS Panel and supposedly color balanced I did have to adjust RGB a little. My Settings:Over Drive: STRONGEco Mode: StandardClear Vision: MediumRGB is going to be different for each panel there isn't one that will be identical but supposedly IPS will have less of a swing.R: 84 G: 92 B: 91Picture Boost is useless don't turn it on and if it is on turn it off, especially if you are editing photography or need "correct" color. There is a HUGE difference in color on this model compared to other monitors I have sitting next to it. This one is closer from my eye to what colors are suppose to look like but it is not 100% and I don't think you will find any monitor that is and if you did your audience won't see the same color in the same way on their screen so just go with get close enough. I don't do anything for print so I can't really talk about that but what you see on this monitor is pretty good.It is a well made monitor, very thin. The outer bevel, there isn't one they have the monitor "tube" go all the way to the edge but they do not make the part of the screen that lights up and you see stuff go to the edge but from looking at the monitor it seems like they could if they wanted to. You on the other hand don't have that option and there is a quarter of an inch or so around the sides and top of the screen that is the "bevel" but there is no physical bevel. They have a plastic edge that wraps to the front to hold the screen into place. Compared to other monitors this one has a smaller edge.Speaker. It does have a speaker and until two days ago I never activated or used it, I honestly did not think it had one even though it has hookups on the back to allow for audio pass through to other devices. The quality of the sound is like the old AM clock radio's from the 60's. Very small sound and very sad small tinny as in tin kind of sound. You would NOT want to use this speaker at all. Buy a $30 external speaker system from walmart or here on Amazon and it will be like theatre sound compared to this. The speaker did work via HDMI cable. If you don't have an HDMI cable buy one. I really like the Amazon brand cables. I had to buy one because my video card only has mini-hdmi port which most use.Cables: Comes with speaker cable which you don't need for this monitor but is nice for other electronics. Power cord. I do not remember if it comes with HDMI cable or not, if so it is the regular cable and won't work on video cards that use mini-hdmi so you need a regular end and a mini end or at least I did on my Nvidia graphics card. If you need the other type of end then get a cable that has the correct end for your graphics card and then the other end a regular HDMI.Ports: 1 VGA, 2 HDMI and one of the new standard ports which noone is using yet. This monitor is future proofed.I have my XBOX 360 and my computer hooked up to both HDMI ports. Playing XBOX on this is very nice, unless you have a high def television this monitor works very nice with Xbox 360.Monitor stand is functional, doesn't provide any features like swivel and is some what difficult to adjust as the screen is so thin. It is a set and forget type of stand.Back of monitor has standard holes for attaching to other type of mounts or stands so no worries there.Pros:LargeGood looking physically and on screenWatching movies on this is amazing, a bit too amazing because you can see the defects in the movie especially if you watch standard definition over hulu or dvd's.Color is bright and everything is crisp and easy to read, after tweaking settings in monitor and increasing zoom or font size in your applications or operating system.IPS PanelCons:TOO many settings and in different menu's, some have their own menu outside of the "settings" so you have to jump from button to button before you get to the right screen or option.Out of the box looking at anything on screen like text, internet you MUST adjust settings or you will go nuts with the screen behavior and seeing things like browser window refresh slow and make things look strange before the monitor refreshes. You will get weird lines and refresh issues that will drive you nuts if you had to look at it too much. It is a couple settings in the monitor, I provided mine above. Watching movies, hulu, amazon prime, netflix on this is great no matter the setting but reading text or looking at websites you must adjust settings.Mine developed a fault towards the end of the first 90 days.Support is not user friendly and require you to jump through hoops to get support. They require you to use email to send your credit card on their form. Is NOT secure and is against internet security regulations, you can FAX the form but who has a fax these days? I just ended up calling them on the form, gave my credit card over phone and emailed the rest of the form which is in excel format. They have two different forms, one for their EASE warranty and one for regular warranty. EASE is free shipping during first 90 days and instant replace of monitor. After 90 days you pay. After one year forget about support buy a new monitor.IPS Panel, not really sure the benefit after comparing this to other monitors I have owned. I still had to adjust RGB and even then it didn't look 100% correct but neither does any of the other monitors I own/ed. It looks close enough but don't get too anal about exact color match. It is SLOW starting up so you will miss seeing the BIOS screen and prompts, my second monitor which is also an AOC but 23" comes on before this does but I am not sure if it is the monitor or my video card that controls this as it only has one HDMI port which this monitor is plugged into and my other monitor which acts like default main monitor via video card comes up first. Could be just the video card doing this and the monitor may not be that slow, I have no way of testing that theory though I don't have a cable that fits the "other" type of port on my video card and also fits HDMI for this monitor.I would recommend this monitor if you do graphics, video editing or web design. The more screen real-estate you have the better. If you can get two of these I would advise doing multiple monitors with these, really nice.I use mine for surfing the web, blogging, doing videos for youtube, web design, programming, video editing and creating and editing graphics as well as editing photographs I take with my camera. The only thing special about this monitor would be it is an IPS Panel.4 stars because it is a little slow starting up, have to adjust settings to make it work well as an everyday monitor with text and web surfing, settings panel is a little complicated and AOC support is not that professional has a mom and pop feel and not very user friendly. Can't give it less than 4 stars though because it is really good monitor.

Fantastic! (with caveats)
Background and Objectives: I just wanted to clean up my desktop and downsize--wanted an IPS monitor with built-in speakers; a rather modest goal. I had a 27" $1,700 professional IPS 10 bit monitor hooked up to a professional $3,500 video card. Now I have this 23" $180 monitor hooked up to $250 video card. Prior to installing I had great trepidation, thinking that I was going to be in for one huge let-down. I wasn't!The Monitor: I am sure this monitor is not as fast nor as accurate as my professional monitor was, but, with my naked eye I cannot tell the difference. Unless you are doing professional work and need the utmost in calibration, I doubt if 'you' could either. The picture on this monitor is fabulous, with no apparent over-saturation of either R,G, B. I have the monitor set to "Neutral" with the Skin Tone enhancement checked. The clarity is spectacular, and the 5ms response time for an IPS monitor is outstanding (all Dell IPS monitors have response time of 8ms, and many professional IPS monitors are 10ms).I work in a dedicated room within my home that is just a small space of 12' x 10'. My previous monitor would literally heat up this room as if i was sitting next to a fireplace, discharging the heat thru the rear vents. With the small extrenal power supply provided with this monitor, there is some radiant heat, but in a negligible amount and it no longer super heats my little cubicle--a welcome relief! The Negatives: I Have seen people complain that the controls on the rear panel is a bit awkward--and surely it is indeed awkward to adjust your monitor from the back...BUT...why would anyone do this? The disc provided has a program called "i-Menu" that installs all your OSD controls so you can simply click your way through all the settings on-screen. The monitor is very weak on Settings, just offering you the basics...but again, unless you are a professional, the basics are all most people really need. The speakers are awful if you seek musical fidelity. For myself, I just wanted to be able to use Skype and not have my work desk cluttered with wires and speakers. The built-in speakers suffice as a 'speaker-phone'. If you want to listen to music or watch movies, the built-in speakers will not do you a bit of good. But, if a person watches movies and listens to music on their computer then the chances are they really do need to get out a bit and develop a fuller life. These speakers would encourage a person to perhaps get a real date and go to a real movie in a real theater. IN this regards, the speaker coudl be deemed 'social enhancement speakers'. (it's all in how you look at things).Set-Up: Set up is straight forward, just slip in the disc, download the appropriate video driver, download i-Menu, and you are good to go. HOWEVER, if you happen to own any Radeon video card and you use the HDMI connection (as you should be doing), you will get an image that is utilizing only 85% of your usable screen space. This took me an entire day of headaches to figure out, and I was about ready to return the monitor out of frustration--thinking it was defective. AOC Tech Support advised me it is because the Radeon default on their scaling settings is set to under-scan by 15%. My version of the Catalyst Control Center did not even have the controls to fix this. I ended up going to the AMD website and downloading the latest version of CCC; which did have these settings; made the necessary adjustment and that problem was instantly resolved without a hitch.Bottom Line: It's a fantastic monitor and I cannot imagine that anyone would be in the least unhappy with it (unless of course you get a bad one, which can happen).

Not as bad as the other guy
Pros: This monitor is great being large with slim bezels (not frameless like the title says) and an IPS panel with good viewing angles and nice colours.Cons: The downside of being 1080p resolution at this screen size of 27 inches is that if you look close enough you will actually be able to see the individual pixels although sitting about maybe half a metre away from the monitor you won't be able to tell though. It might be better to go 1440p at this screen size if you want to avoid this problem. The speakers that are on this monitor are just straight garbage, sound is distorted and tinny. DO NOT USE THE SPEAKERS.The only problem I've had from my 3 months of continuous everyday use is that the monitor will sometimes fail to recognise that it's connected to a source (maybe once or twice every week). I'm using the display port connected to my graphics card and the display port cable and everything else is working fine. I have to turn the monitor off and on to fix this. Despite the other review, there aren't any massive deal breakers here. There wasn't any backlight bleeding (this is an IPS panel issue in general by the way not just limited to this specific monitor). The first time I ordered this monitor it never showed up, amazon were quick to ship me a new one after talking to them though so great on amazons part. 4/5 stars for the nice monitor and the connection issues I sometimes have. Would recommend if you don't sit too closely to the monitor and are using different speakers or headphones.

Belongs on my desk
Looks as if it was a frameless monitor. Love the detachable monitor stand as the desk in my dorm is quite high, I can get the monitor directly onto my desk. The speakers are garbage, but if you were looking for good speakers on a monitor, you are lost, my friend. I can attest to the monitor having good colors. I mainly use it for school work and media, and it works exceptionally for those purposes. I can't quite speak for its performance in gaming since I've never spent the time, but I'm sure it can output a mediocre performance. At this price point, you are getting a lot out of your money.I am, however, looking to sell my monitor to upgrade to an ultra-wide just to help with studying. I did overestimate the size of the monitor, thinking it would be much larger. If you spend upwards of 8 hours doing a lot of really heavy work, I would honestly suggest picking up a monitor above 30 inches.

A very good buy. Had it for 10 months now
A very good buy. Had it for 10 months now, the monitor works great, has crystal clear colors, and the best part is the side-angle view, the image quality is always consistent even at a 175 degree angle. Although the casing feels cheap and plastic, and the silver bar on the bottom is plastic designed to look like metal, it still has a very modern and luxurious appearance from far, making the AOC feel much more expensive than it is. Occasionally when walking by or cleaning from dust, the monitor can shake or tilt quite a lot; however, the stand has had no problems holding the weight of the monitor. For the IPS image quality and overall luxurious appearance, this modern was a fantastic buy.

Love this monitor. Speakers sucks.
Just set it up and I absolutely love it! Its so sleek looking. But the speakers do suck. I've hooked this up to my 13" macbook air and the speakers on the macbook is way better so I just run the sound off there. I guess you can't expect much from this monitor. If you need good sound, get a fancy bluetooth speaker.
