Parenting from the Inside Out
This parenting book is far more than a "how-to". It examines the importance of the parent child relationship from the perspective of the child's neurological and social development. It challenges parents to examine their own upbringing and to evaluate how their experiences as a child now influence their functioning as a parent. The premises exlpained in the book are supported by recent breakthroughs in brain research. As a psychotherapist who works with children and famlies, this is the book I recommend the most to my clients. At times the writing in the book is somewhat techinical in nature, but there are many stories and exercies for parents that are beneficial even if the reader doesn't understand all of the language.

Found this work very informative & helpful. Recommend widely.
Have bought several copies of this book to share with others. The audio book was faithful to the text & easy to follow. I found this book very helpful personally, even though my children were beginning to have children of their own when I first read it. It provides knowledge & information about how the brain is organized & what happens when early childhood needs aren't met. The good news is that the brain never loses it "neuroplasticity," meaning we can change & heal from early wounds & scars through the lifespan. This book was life changing for me.

Finally!
This book helped me gain enormous insight into myself and also create a compassionate space in which to parent. It is not an easy read, but it is important and well worth the effort. I've read some beautiful parenting books, but what many of them lack is what this book presents so beautifully. Until you can understand yourself better, all of the good intentions in the world will just crash down, leaving you feeling like a failure. I am so grateful that this book found me.

Great parenting information
I thought the book had a lot of great parenting information. I feel the book could've been condensed so that you would get the meat and potatoes of the information. Some parts of the book went into too much detail.

Best gift you can give your child
This is an insightful, well researched, well thought out guide to healing yourself so that you can be the best possible parent to your child. If you are looking to break bad cycles in your family line, this book is especially for you. But I would recommend it to any parent. Your children and grandchildren will thank you.

Inspirational & Transforming, a must read for anyone who is seeking...
A thorough in depth explanation to the causes/conditions of our own parented experiences and the inter-generational effects of imprinting & learning of behaviors. Culminating with the freedom from unhealthy behaviors one can cultivate at any point along the life cycle with the proper tools and awareness. An inspiring and reflective experience in reading this book. Thank you Dan Siegel!

NOT TO BE MISSED!
A book to bring it all together for parents. I teach Thomas Gordon's Parent Effectiveness Training and this book, based on the latest brain research, confirms the P.E.T. philosophy as first expressed by Carl Rogers. Children are in deep trouble. I see a very grim future unless the thinking outlined for us here can, somehow, become our paradigm for moving forward.

Great content but too much for audio
This is a fantastic book but too complex for audio cd... Because the concepts are complex it almost goes too fast to process. I think it'd be much easier to digest in its readable format!
