This was perfect for the 4th corner of our canopy
This was perfect for the 4th corner of our canopy. Has lasted all season through many storms with no trouble. We mounted one corner of our shade to our second story deck, two corners to the corners of the garage and needed this for the 4th corner. We looped the tether around the pole for our chain link fence and then came back in the direction of the pole to provide tension. Overall I am very impressed. Just came back to order a new one because we left this when we moved. Disappointed that this item is no longer available!!

Sail Pole
It could be a little stronger made. But I think it will do the job. It seems to be easy to use.

Average poles but very sturdy
Ordered 2 poles but only received 1. Didn't care for the sturdiness. Not stronge enough to hold 18x18ft sun shade

convenient way to anchor shade sails
I'm using 2 sections and anchoring it into a board mounted to a deck railing. Works well.

Reasonable; buy ground mount
I did not observe the picture correctly when viewing the item. When I received it, I can see how it would be very flimsy with the provided rope and L-piece to attach it to the ground. To avoid the bother of returning the item, and because I think the pole itself is fine, I purchased 2 flagpole ground mounts for $20 each from Target.com. The ground mounts are similar to a tie-out for a long dog leash, but have a hollow pole to place the flagpole inside. I suspect this will work well and much improve any flimsiness.

Sturdy and Easy to Use
These are excellent, easy to assemble and sturdy. We chose them to anchor our new shade structure. We used two of the Winscreen4less 12x12x12 Sun Shade Sail to create Shade in an area in direct sun.

Flimsy poles. Attachment pin unusable.
I purchased these poles to use as supports for a sail shade. I found them to be flimsy and the straight pins in the ends were dangerous and unusable. I had attached these poles to the 6 ft. galvanized pipe of my dog run with zip ties in 4 places above and below each of the pole section joints, and while that supported portion of the pole remained straight, the length of the pole above the dog run (not supported and lashed to my galvanized pipe) bent pretty badly. The sail shade must be installed "taut" in order to work properly. Unfortunately this pole bends unless it is supported. Any tension placed on the shade causes the pole to bend. I would suggest the manufacturer make a heavier pole and put an eye hook in the end, not the straight pin.

good canopy/shade sail pole for temporary shade sails
Use this with my Coolaroo Shade Sail when I am out selling. I put them in a heavy granite umbrella stand (lowes), but need to weigh down with sand bags or heavy boxes. I need them where I am selling as there is no light poles or trees to use in some locations, so I use 2 of these and attach the 3 rd corner of the sail to my tent that I use. I like they have the skinny pole at the top that the sail fits over. I would have liked them a little heavier guage but they have not bent yet and seem to do the job. I don't know if these are strong enough for a permanent shade sail. The pole comes in 3 sections that u attach so you can get 2 different lengths, plus they fold down easily for transporting.
