Gives very consistent results, which is what matters the most.
These calipers give very consistent results for skinfold measurement, which is the most important thing for any caliper to do. Even if you aren't skilled with calipers, so long as you remain consistent in how you use them, you can get meaningful information from them, even if the numbers are all wrong. If your goal is to drop subcutaneous fat then all you really need to concern yourself with is how much your skin fold measurements change over time. If the measurements are decreasing, then you're on the right track, and if they're not....well...you probably need to change something. And for those who are trying to get absolute body fat measurements: While calipers like these aren't the most accurate means of measuring body composition, they do a good job for what you pay for them. The more accurate means available are very costly. This is especially true in my case, as I have a lot of water weight from kidney disease, which makes other common and inexpensive methods (such as BIA) practically useless because the percentage numbers are skewed heavily in favor of the water content, making i.e. fat and muscle percentages look lower than they actually are.

Way Easier to Self Use
I bought this to replace an Accu-Measure (the small one that clicks) and first thing I noticed is that this design allows for way more consistent measurements. The Accu-Measure, although functional, had the tendency to overshoot a measurement as you reacted to the click, so you'd get a lot of variance in your self measures. With this one, as long as you use it correctly, it works, and is repeatable. It's also a lot closer to the ones I used in school and seems to be a mass-produced for "consumer" variation of those.

Consistent and reasonably easy to use.
Very useful tool to track my progress. I measure myself every two weeks and I see the fat loss. Far more accurate than an electrical impedance scale - my scale would give me fluctuations of a percent or more in my fat from day to day, while this tool gives me consistent fat percentages that fit with my weight loss and appearance. They lose one star because the caliper is not calibrated perfectly. When in the closed position, it reads a little less than 0. I have to add 1 mm to all of my measurements to get an accurate reading.

Calipers
We use them to measure the heels of patients. Works great. Good price. Good purchase.

Not accurate for my body type.
Either the spots it says to measure on me are my thinnest or I have the same body fat of a body builder.(which I’m not) I’m almost 35 and measurements came out to 6percent. I’d guess I’m between 10 and 15 percent. Got these because I used one of those scales that says your body fat percentage. It said I was 17.3. I know thats too high. Just made me curious.I’m going to try more locations to measure and do the math myself rather than using their chart and see if it is more accurate. If you are just measuring regularly to see trends, I’d recommends if you are trying to be accurate, I’d try something else.

Quality for cheap
It was larger and sturdier than I expected. It measures about 9x8". The plastic seems thick and quality. The springs close the measuring claws so it will give repeatedly accurate results. The springs are good quality, but could be replaced if broken. The old ones would need to be cut off, but the anchors could easily hold new springs (see picture). Comes with a 3-point measuring system and a 2page result chart. Could easily be used with a 6-point system found online for free, but my point is you can use it straight out of the package without anything else but yourself.Definitely recommend for someone who wants a cheap but quality skinfold caliper.

Works wonderfully.
Before I bought this caliper, I bought a clicker type which didn't work so I returned it.Before I tried another caliper, I checked with personal trainers at my gym. They use the Sequoia Trim Cal 4000.So, I ordered one.I researched how to use this caliper and found it is easy to take measurements - just follow directions & get an average of the 3 point measuring sites. The caliper comes with a Male/Female chart and instructions. When you receive your Trim Cal 4000, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before you use it.

extremely inaccurate.
this is just NOT an accurate device for measuring your body fat. I think it makes too much pressure on the skin folds, so it will tell you that you have much less body fat than you actually have. I repeat, A LOT. First I used the measuring method that comes with the caliper, which told me that my body fat percentage was 9%, which I am 100% sure that was not true. Then, I used a different formula that I found on the internet with more measurements, but with this same caliper, which this time gave me 10.5%, which is also very far from how I actually look. then, I just tried using a measuring tape method with quite a few measurements of the circumference of parts of my body. that one gave me 19%, which is way more likely to be true, since that is how I actually look. then I tried another method with the same measuring tape, and that one gave me 19.9%, which only confirmed how bad this body fat caliper is. I was very unsatisfied with this product. I bought it because I thought that the price was proportional to it's accuracy and quality, but it is not.
