Excellent !!!
The preliminary exercises of odd grouping with familiar stickings is worth the price of the book and video tutorials. I’m such a fan of Carter’s. His musical approach to everything is infectious and a careful reminder to all of us. We play drums to play MUSIC !!! Carter always plays musically and his ‘chops’ per se never, ever show off because he can. He builds songs very well! The book and video explains his foundational approach quite well. Highly recommended !!!

Buy it.
Worth it. It covers the basics that frankly 9 out of 10 players (even ones with tons of chops) can’t do smoothly. It’s about getting your weak hand just as quick and controlled as your strong hand, being able to play super smooth quietly, able to place accents whenever/wherever you want them, independence, etc. Buy it. If you don’t dig it, give it to another drummer and they will probably. His website classes are great too... Not many resources are this concise. There’s no filler stuff or endless slightly different exercises that don’t build your skill. No filler, every bit of it is needed (not that you’ll play it the same way in a gig but the skill it teaches is vital). You *might* breeze past the first page or two but sooner or later you might get stumped and perhaps even have to rewind a page or two to really nail everything to be able to move forward. Has helped a ton already in just a couple days for me.

Great concepts & exercises for feel and creativity.
If you are a completely green beginner I'd still suggest owning this book....but you'll probably realize just how good it is after you have some basic skills. Only the first few concepts will SEEM attainable or useful for a brand new drummer....but this isn't a "Get started on drums" type of book - so this is not a negative comment. He presents all of the exercises as a cumulative journey - and it most certainly is great stuff for the stated objective: improving feel and creativity. If you dig Carter's playing you'll certainly appreciate and soak up his approach to musicality as well.Watching the related video content is essential to getting the most from this book.I'm stoked to have this on the shelf and on my music stand.

Great book on coordination, independence, flow, and technique.
Going through the exercises in this book was very challenging at first, but over time I have found my playing improve more than I expected. The book introduces some fundamental patterns that `groove` and enforce independence. There is a direct application to actual playing that comes out of the patterns and accents. I continue to include combinations of these in my weekly practice and feel more versatile and relaxed when I'm playing with people.

Useful for any level player
I enjoyed Carter's take on drumming. The book exercises are useful in creating facility on the drum set that is smoother than the traditional rudiments and independence based studies. The earlier in your studies you are exposed to this book the more you could benefit. I have been playing over city years it is counter intuitive method for me, but can be useful right away. My grand son took to it instantly. I recommend this book to any level player..

Pushes you out of your comfort zone
Carter's book in the same moment makes you simplify what you think you know and then pushes your ability and forces you to start improving many elements of your playing, such as: technique, independence and groove, all at the same time. You will have endless amounts of material to work on, and countless permutations. More than worth its weight in gold!

Bueniiiiisimo

Worth every penny
Carter is the king of feel and groove, this book is challenging, inspiring, but most of all fun to play. This book makes you stop and really think about the feel and touch that goes into drumming. I especially like the tips and tricks on the added video content, that alone is worth money you'll spend on this.
