Sew-link Single Fold Tape Binder Attachment With Swing Bracket (SIze 1 inches)

Wow - this machine attachment is amazing for finishing off raw edges. Putting polypro binding on sunbrella canvas — amazing results with very little practice stitches needed. Watched a YouTube video on how to attach it; didn’t come with instructions. Was stitching within about 20 mins. Mine came mounted on the “non-bending” mount which had to be removed in order to mount to machine using the bend-away arm. Install was easy once I realized I’d use one piece or the other. For reference, I have a Brother PQ1590 machine. Used 100/16 Super Nonstick needles with Tera 60 thread. Even over hook-n-loop closure it’s all running smooth as butter! Super impressed and very happy! I’m a quilter and rarely had a need for a tool like this but after this I’ll be looking for a double-fold attachment for quilt bindings!!!! Love it!

I gave the unit a 4 because of the time I lost finding thumb screws to mount the binder. Otherwise the binder worked great. I was able to combine the canvas and Naugahyde backing in one smooth operation.

Overall, very pleased with the 1" Swing Away Binder Attachment. It worked well on 7/8" Grosgrain ribbon. For some reason, the standard holes on my Thompson Walking Foot were just a tad small and had to find other screws to fit.Arrived earlier than expected - Thanks!

Although it did not come with mounting screws, I used standard needle thumb screws to mount to a Juki DNU-1541S clone. The screws supplied are for the assembly of binder. Standard needle thumb screws, will be long enough to attach binder to table, and are the same thread size and pitch as the screws supplied.I ordered, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018ZLBVVW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I got the 2 screws I needed and a guide.The binder worked well, I used 1" binding tape, measurement of opening is 1 3/32" , 27.86mm.I had no problems with heavy material for a boat cabin. The opening for the work to go through at the fold point, is a little over 7/64”, or 3mm.

You might know exactly how to install and use this attachment, but I do not. It comes with no directions for set up, and no attachment screw. I have tried to find online videos, and have seen them from other products, but nothing from Sew Link. In addition, I had trouble making the adjustments to get the perfect position on my machine without having the presser foot hit the folding mechanism. It might all be fine, but I'm still struggling in my test runs, and wondering if this will ever be a workable solution.

This is a great product for putting binding on anything we made a Sunbrella boat cover and put binding all the way around the edge so that we could attach snaps to the boat this is heavy duty and this product made it so easy to attach the binding to the Sunbrella material that we cannot believe we’ve lived without this. We would buy this again in a second this is an excellent product and you won’t believe how much you’ve missed this once you get it

Overall, it looks like a nice lower cost alternative to the Sailrite product. It installs easily enough, and adjustment and alignment is okay. Unfortunately the feed is too tight for the binding tape to feed through while sewing. The tape is stuck in place and the machine continues to sew in the same spot. I tried opening it up and slightly bending the edges out, but it made no difference. I would recommend spending the extra money and getting the original product from Sailrite. I'm returning mine to Amazon.

I’ve been wanting to try a binding attachment on my industrial sewing machine, but $135 or more from the big name companies is a little too much for me to try as an experiment.This one is not an exact fit for my Seiko LSW8-BL but I can make it work, and after a little practice does a great job!So far I have run light fabric and 2 to 3 ounce upholstery leather with good results.
