It's a Good Choice. Saves you time-money-and reduces stress.
The Garmin GTM 60 HD Digital Traffic Receiver (HD DTR) has proven to be a good investment. Recently we went on a 3,000 (+) mile business trip. About half way through our trip we ordered and received the HD Traffic Receiver to replace our original chord that came with our Garmin. The original chord is good, no problems and does its job. However, with the HD DTR, one step was saved. We no longer had to tap into our smart phone app "Garmin Smart Phone Link" to get ongoing traffic reports in various areas where this service was available. The last thing you DONOT want to do is find yourself in the midst of 8:00 am traffic in a new city asking your wife to assist you in setting up your app on the phone because you forgot to do so before you started your day's trip.. This is especially true when you can be easily re-routed due to "Live Traffic" situations. Not knowing about an upcoming "Live Traffic" could well mean sitting in your car for many minutes not moving at all or traveling at a very frustrationing pace.On our trip we had been re-routed several times and been notified of live traffic situations at least 30 or more times. Not only did these notices lessen our stress level, it further provided us ample time (sometimes as much as 60 miles away) to be prepared for a route change or a slower traffic pattern. We also from time to time were given notices of options to save 4 min or even 12 min. driving time by taking alternative routes. All this without the need to use the smart app.I would encourage Garmin to give a $5 to $10 rebate if customers would purchase this item at the same time they purchase their Garmin GPS. If given that option in the first place with a discount, I probably would have also purchased it at the same time--thus saving both time and money.

The best thing that ever happened to my Nuvi 2595LMT
My old charging cable was no longer working. I needed a replacement that included the traffic receiver like the old one. This GTM 60 replacement has HD digital traffic signal. WOW!! The Nuvi 2595LMT should have come with this to begin with. The traffic reports are so much more detailed than the original cable, it's amazing. Even if your old charging cable works, this GTM 60 is a worthy replacement just for the enhanced traffic. I wish there was a way to shoot the cable to the side rather than straight down, as both my Escape and the Park Avenue I used to own have a nice shelf that works for holding the Garmin. Unfortunately, mini USB adapters DO NOT WORK with the Garmin Traffic Receivers. In fact, those adapters don't work at all to even let you use the Garmin.

Traffic information w/o monthly fees
This power adapter / traffic information device works great with my Garming Drivesmart 65; no fees to pay to obtain traffic information; driving around in San Diego it gives me details about traffic on my route and integrates it seemlessly with the GPS because it gives me options to drive around traffic jams or gives options to improve time spent to get to the set destination. Thou price at first seems to be steep, it pays off rather quickly.

Works fine in recent road test
Even after the negative reviews, I decided to try this. After I bought my Garmin nuvi 2555LMT, I was on a trip from Washington DC to Virginia Beach. A distance down I-95, I was caught in a major traffic tie up due to an accident for 30-45 minutes. All the while I was listening to reports on the radio about this accident. Even as I finally got to the accident scene which was in the final clean-up stages, the stock traffic receiver showed green with no delays on my route. And as mentioned by others, if you pay over $200 for something, you should not get annoying advertising in the screen. So I decided to try the GTM 60 HD receiver. After I bought it, I tried it in the Washington DC area for a couple weeks. It seemed to work fine and I always had a signal. As one other reviewer mentioned, it takes a while to clear the cache of the advertising. I selected the coupon on the screen, and then after it could not find the coupon with the new traffic service I turned the unit off and then on. This cleared the coupon from the screen.I recently took it on two college visit trips with my daughter. We flew to Florida and drove around the Daytona Beach Orlando area and I had a signal the entire time. I then drove from Washington DC to Columbus and Akron OH and back. I had a traffic signal the entire time even in the remote mountainous areas of PA. Approaching Columbus, I got a warning that the current route was blocked and a new route was provided. A few miles down the road an overhead traffic sign confirmed that the route was in fact blocked. I was provided a new route which completely avoided this delay. The traffic updates are much faster, and personally I think getting rid of those annoying adds is worth the cost.

Saves a lot of time in congested cities!
I drive for a living so having just a GPS will not cut it, I need current traffic information. This device does just that - provides relatively accurate traffic information as well as suggestive alternate routes. I found for the most part it is accurate, although sometimes it may be delayed as far as accident reporting (eg. It will say "an accident was reported on Hwy X" but it may have been cleared up long before that). As far as congestion goes, it is quite accurate and has saved me a lot of time. If it suggests there is a delay I will either follow the alternate route it suggests, or check Google Maps to see just how bad it is. Overall I am very pleased with it...in my job, time is money and it has definitely save me a lot of time!
