Timeless insight
This book is a critical reframe of important topics regarding the marketing of legal services.Lawyers study for the LSAT, graduate from law school, and pass the bar, and none of those high bars involve learning how to build, run, and grow a business as entrepreneurs and attorneys.Written in 2018, Michael Mogill accurately describes how the American legal industry was and remains one of the top spenders of digital advertising dollars in the world (next to banking, insurance, etc). The concept of brand marketing was innovated in the late 19th century by companies such as Coca-Cola. The practice of marketing developed, evolved, and learned many best-practices for over a century, since brand marketing for law firms wasn’t legally permissible until the late 20th century.Relative to the wider world, Michael Mogill reveals how much the legal industry can and must learn in terms of marketing, business, leadership, and management practices.Leveraging modern tools, but timeless constructs such as social proof, authenticity, and adapting to grow, the book is highly informative and filled with practical advice for law firm owners. For a practicing attorney and law firm owner, this book is a crash course and wake-up call to adapt to the “new normal” in order to obtain the best cases, and deliver value to clients, owning the role of modern, entrepreneurial business owner.

GAMW CHANGING…let’s just be honest!!
Truth be told, I NEVER write reviews. But, I’m completely enamored by the practicality, simplicity, and applicability of the concepts in this book. So, I had to gloat. First of all, The Game Changing Attorney was such an easy, digestible read, that I found myself ready to re-read it over again. Just for context, my BF is an attorney who recently graduated and [finally] passed the bar. Naturally, I find our discussions circle back to “I’m a damn good attorney, but not nearly adequate or equipped to fulfill the obligations of an entrepreneur, in charge of running my own law firm…help!” Being the innate “fixer” that I am, I feel helpless to offer any practical solutions.Enter stage left, Michael Mogil, and “The Game Changing Attorney.” #MINDBLOWN! It could not come at a more relevant time. The immediate applications from this book left me feeling empowered to offer some real, tangible support.Needless to say, my BF has since read the book twice. And now proudly frames excerpts / context on the walls of his emerging practice. Without question, The Game Changing Attorney is his GO-TO recommendation for all of his fellow JD buddies. The many practical implications from reading Michael's book & subscribing to his podcast cannot be understated. It has been pivotal, dare I say, a life-changing experience! To the author, Michael Mogil - how can I sign up for this summit event? The Game Changers Summit in Nov? Access to the phenomenal lineup of speakers; Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin O’Leary, Cy Wakeman, Camille Vasques, etc, etc. Plus a Boys II Men concert…anddd Tesla give-aways?! Yeah, count me in. I’d be honored to attend as an honorary guest of my BF (the attorney) of course LOL!

Needing to rethink your law business?
A lot of the information in this book is "duh, of course." However, us attorneys tend to think we are a special and exceptional breed of people, that what works for other industries will not work for the business of law. This book shatters that stereotype. We are not special. We have the same problems all businesses run into. This book caused me to wake up and instead of allowing my business to 'run itself' without oversight and wonder 'how did I get myself into this mess?', it caused me to rethink every facet of every minute of every day of my practice. We all went to law school to learn multiple facets of the law, how it works, and how to apply it. Why would we not look at the multiple facets of the business of law, how it works and how to apply it?

A Book Written For Its Advertising
Although the book claims to be written for lawyers and law firms, it does not reflect this reality. In the book, it is explained how successful the author's own company is through well-known facts and a few sample files. In fact, the author makes us read his advertisement by taking money from us!
