Must have for teachers
I am not a teacher, but I am a mother of a 5yr old that was just diagnosed with Asperger's. At the beginning of the school year, we were in the process of having him tested for it, but we didn't have a formal diagnosis. So, I had a talk with the teacher to inform her of what we were in the process of doing. Of course, since there wasn't a diagnosis (yet) from a doctor, they had to treat my son like he was a normal child. In other words, since they had no idea how to handle him, to them he was acting out and they treated him like he was a trouble maker and I had to frequently pick him up from school. Frustrated, I started looking for information that would help them relate to my son and not see what he was doing as him acting out, but as him not knowing how to communicate with them. I found this book and the other Behavior Solutions book and purchased them. I took them in (along with my son's neuro psychologist) and we had a meeting with the teacher and principal. I suggested they read the books and since then, my son has been doing so much better in school and they have helped me at home as well!! They don't go into very much detail, but they do give you enough info to handle the situations. In my opinion, since the numbers of kids being diagnosed with autism, asperger's, and PDD are on the rise, it would benefit every teacher to have a copy on hand. They could also help with kids with ADD and ADHD.

They did it again!
Aune, Burt, and Gennaro have done it again! This follow up to their first book, Behavior Solutions in the Inclusive Classroom, is a great companion piece to the original. In this edition, the authors, an occupational therapist, parent of a child with autism, and educator discuss common behavior situations that arise in classrooms and general settings and present possible solutions that can be tried instantly. The book's format makes it easy to refer to for quick reference. After reviewing it, I plan to buy copies for my child's classroom and after-school program. The copy I've already purchased will be staying with me!

Great book
For anyone out there who works with children with behavior issues, this is a much needed book. I bought the first book "Behavior Solutions for the Inclusive Classroom" and knew there was a second, but the local bookstore did not have it. For my job, I work with children with behavioral issues. This book gives you, the teacher, great ways to handle behavior issues and better understand the behavior itself. This book was recommended to me by someone in our district and I highly recommned it as well.

Very helpful for teachers!
This is actually the second time I bought this book. The first time I bought it for my child's kindergarten teacher's classroom. This time it went to the first grade teacher. What I love about this book, is you can look up the behavior, find the page number, not only does it explain what's happening to the child, it tells how to help that child. Amazing resource!

Great ideas...
This books offers many great ideas for dealing with a lot of issues I have had with my son. I always thought of myself as someone who thinks outside the box, but the author really had some easy solutions that I had not thought of which surprised me. It was nice to be able to use many of these solutions and have them work and work quickly!

Helpful
As a classroom aide, I am always looking for ways to be more effective with the children, helping them to modify behaviors that are interfering with their learning.

Useful
Didn't blow me away, but useful. Appreciate the inclusion of sensory issues and the positive approach. I hear to much about consequences (vailed meaning of punishment).

Great follow up book
Ideal follow up book for class teacher. Helps to prevent parents nagging "your not listening to me" as gives the teachers a greater idea of how to deal with ASD in the classroom. Our kids are not "naughty" and this book reinforces that!
