This book covers the modern 302 build, not the ancient
I guess the third times a charm. After ordering both the other higher rated Ford small block books found on Amazon, only to find extremely outdated info, I finally found what I was looking for. The other two were so bad I found zero use and returned them each time ordering another looking for up to date info.Things like EFI, GT40P heads, intakes, injectors were not to be found in the others at all. This one however is very up to date with all that stuff. It also gives you comparison info, injector ohm info, EVERYTHING about the MODERN Ford small blocks. This is going to be read from front to back many times.I have to hand it to Amazon too. They accepted my two returns in a row with no problems or questions until I found what I was looking for. If you're looking for the best of the best, this is it. The most useful info I could find in one place by quite a bit.I won't be returning this one. Finally have a smile on my face as I build my modern 302 motor to drop in my jeep and abuse off-road.

Excellent book
If you have a Windsor, you gotta have this book. Loaded with facts, And shows most of the aftermarket goodies for a Windsor. I plan to mix n match some of these parts to build mine up. It covers a broad spectrum of horsepower ratings so you can't go wrong. Lots of photos.

Great Info!
Being away from the performance scene for a lot of years and I was never a Ford Fanatic this book really explains and shows how to bring some inexpensive parts and how to's for building Horse Power. It's a great reading book and they have all kinds of information on the fe series Ford Engine.

Worthy to add to collection learn about small bock Ford engines, but lacking some details...
Hi there! Are you looking for a good small block Ford (Windsor based 302 or 351) book to learn about hot rodding or performing some shade tree maintenance? This might be your book. For me, it was a good but not great resource, with some caveats. Bare in mind, its a bit dated, but so is the 5.0L pushrod engine, and much of the info presented isn’t very new, but it is very commonly accepted and mainstream. I liked the layout and presentation, but as some other reviewers mentioned, it is lacking many details. I am not so sure to whom this book is written for, on the one hand, it is not for the rank novice as it assumes readers has experience or understanding of engine operation; on the other, it isn't for a certified mechanic either....thats what tech / service manuals are for. It is more like a coffee table book...minus color pictures. Further, it is seems to be a copy of authors other book on the subject: Ford Windsor Small Block Performance in a yellow jacket. Lots of magazine like chapters/articles of really good builds with performance goodies like heads, intakes and cams etc. The author strongly favors Edelbrock and almost paints an advertising picture at times. Other options for components get little mention in any meaningful way. I like Edelbrock pieces, but there are a LOT of other good company’s making as good or better than Edelbrock without the price tag.Pros:Well writtenOrganizedPleasing layoutLots of picturesGood big picture informationCons:Basic and rather thin detailsPoor quality black and white picturesCoffee table layout but no color imagesA bit heavy praising Edelbrock components and lacking mentioning other aftermarket optionsNot for beginners, but also not for experienced enthusiasts or mechanicsBuild packages lack fine details that add clarity and direction for the build conceptIn summary, I hate to sound negative, but this was a bit of a disappointment. Finding good material on the 302/5.0L small block Ford is a bit of a challenge outside of magazines from the 90’s to early 2000’s. While it does give direction and some meat to the engine as a whole, it lacks much details on how to make power, such as building a engine for revs on track days versus for towing a boat or why a stroker to 327, 331 347 or 363? Do’s and don’t would be a huge benefit here. Also could be more current but thats a minor issue given the Windsor engine is outdated anyway. I sometimes felt like searching the net or YouTube was more fruitful, but then wading through the junk for the gems can be tiring....This book and the companion book that shares the same title are good but not great books to own. Find a used copy and add it to your collection, just don’t rely on it for reference on the topic. The search continues....

Good book
Lots of great information if your going to build or modify you windsor. This book covers a lot from bottom ends to intakes and carbs. Keep in mind that the bok was published in 2010 so some of the very few parts that have come out since then may not be included.
