Statistics (The Easier Way) With R: an informal text on applied statistics and data science

Radziwill has an style of writing that is both easy to follow and clear
I am a relative newcomer to the world of R. Ms. Radziwill has a conversational style of writing that is both easy to follow and clear. She will write out some code and then will put the code created into plain English. Within the first few minutes of obtaining the book I was able to easily construct a bar plot graph that had previously been a problem area for me. I would definetly recommend this book to others.

Poor execution due to amateurish production
The book has an admirable mission but fails to deliver largely because of amateurish production. As an example, the font used to show code makes it very easy to confuse the number "1" with the lowercase of letter "L". This is particularly frustrating, because a lot of the examples reference datasets online that one needs to access by inputting long alphanumeric strings. This could all have been avoided (saving the reader much aggravation) but creating book-specific datasets to be pulled from a dedicated website. Moreover, in some of the sections, R functions are introduced extremely casually without much of an explanation as to why one is using them. This might all be OK if one is using this book as a supplement for a formal classroom course, but if one is studying R and statistics independently, there are many better resources (often for free) on-line.

WRITING IS GOOD AND EASIER MEANS IF YOU ALREADY KNOW SOME CODING ...
WRITING IS GOOD AND EASIER MEANS IF YOU ALREADY KNOW SOME CODING AND ALREADY KNOW SOME STATISTICS YOU WILL BE BORED TO TEARS AND SHOULD FIND SOMETHING MORE DIRECT AND TO THE POINT. THEN AGAIN IF YOU ARE TOTALLY NEW TO BOTH STATS AND R THAN GO FOR IT AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT MIND ALL THE OFF TOPIC CONVERSATIONAL NARRATIVE. I GAVE 4 STARS SINCE AUTHOR SEEMS AUTHENTIC TO THE NEW BEE AUDIENCE.

After self-congratulating on how easy her book is compared to the competition
The book self advertises as being the easiest book on the market. Then she shows a vector assignment on p. 25 in the command: mean(c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)) and doesn't tell the reader what "c" means!! On p. 27 she runs "sort(table(x))" which produces a row of output with the numbers from 1 to 10 in RANDOM order. Why do we want THAT kind of output? In another example she reads a weather file into an R frame data type. Does she discuss frames here or ANYWHERE? No!! Try finding list or frame in the index. It isn't there. This book is horrible from the main text to the index. Half the time you finding yourself guessing about all the R functions and data types because Ms. Radziwill surely doesn't do it.

Very user friendly!
We got his as a reference book for our office as we have a lot of people using R for data analysis. The book is written in an extremely accessible format and I would highly recommend to anyone learning R and needing some guidance.

GREAT BOOK!
This book is so funny and readable! It really does simplify stats and is excellent for a PhD student like myself who has had extensive qualitative training and is less familiar with quant. The book is worth buying just to have on hand, Ive enjoyed it!

... is truly an "R" book and isn't a particularly good general statistics book
This is truly an "R" book and isn't a particularly good general statistics book. I think the author's blog is incredibly useful and I purchased the book to supplement my CSSBB study materials... It didn't provide insights to the questions I needed to look up.

Poor production
While the contents of this book may be excellent (I don't know - I found it hard to read with all the blood pouring out of my eyes), the production quality makes it look like your 10 year old copied some blog online and printed it at school. Seriously, we are in 2019 and there are visible PIXELS IN THE EQUATIONS. You may think you're buying a book, but you're just bying some paper with a printed webpage.

You are buying more than a BOOK - Awesome, Helpful, Easy to Understand, Hands On...
I purchased this book from Amazon after reading the reviews here. I was not at all wrong by making this decision. The Book is very easy to understand and do your hands-on practice in Statistics using R.More than that, the Author Nicole is very helpful too. She even responds to our queries through her Linkedin messenger. She was kind enough to send me a free PDF copy of her other book "End-To-End Solved Problems with R: A Catalog of 26 Examples Using Statistical Inference" along with the PDF version of "Statistics (the Easier Way) with R".Not only this, She has a great set of other reference and study materials (PDF, Videos, PPT's about 1.6 GB size) that is available for you when you purchase this book (Note: You will have to mail her for the PDF copies of this book and other reference materials, The web link provided in the book is broken, but Nicole provided all these material through email).Really a great buy for all learning or teaching Statistics using R. I'm still exploring this book and other materials, and so far I'm loving it.Thanks Nicole.
