Artur Esjmont is a guy with a really cool name, and also a really cool book. He is also Head of Platform Engineering at Yahoo in Sydney.Artur Esjmont is a guy with a really cool name, and also a really cool book. He is also Head of Platform Engineering at Yahoo in Sydney. Now to the book: it is hard for me to overstate how much relief I felt after reading this book. I am a self taught software developer and I had some serious wholes in my knowledge when it came to architecturing large scale applications. I had of course come across disjointed articles here and there that covered some of the topics were are about to discuss, but this book simply does an incredible job of tying all together. It gave me the full picture and a much better intuition for how to tie backend concepts together.Every line of the book is packing knowledge and I felt many "aha" moments while reading it. Those who are newest to web development will be those who gain the most knowledge from reading it, but it is probably still quite good for intermediate and advanced people.

Best book I've read in a while
I wish my university had offered a course based on this book. I'm a junior developer in a corporate environment where we build cloud-based web apps, web services, message-driven components etc. It's all pretty new to me so I'm just learning as much as I can on the fly. This book really gave me the "big picture" of the systems that we are working on as our architecture shares many similarities to what is described in this book. I'm also studying some of the Amazon Web Services solution architect training and this book is a great complement to it. This book should be required reading for the dev teams at my work. But now I have a dilemma... should I share the book with my teammates or keep it to myself for a competitive edge? haha.

Not Just An AWS Guide
This book is not just a step by step guide to using cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, etc. It teaches web scalability from basic principles and gets the reader thinking about the factors to consider when making decisions for their own project, service, or business.

Excellent resource for the aspiring senior engineer
I used this book to study for system design interviews and it prepared me exceptionally well. It's well written and easy to understand. And it majorly leveled up my understanding of good architecture, scalability, and the different tradeoffs involved in system design. Big thanks to the author for creating such a useful resource for the aspiring senior engineer.

Great Overview
The book provides you a great overview about all the necessary topics when you are creating a successull technological product. It is mostly focused on the infraestructure point of view (server, databases, queues, cloud providers...) you won't find any code reference here.
