Good into book - a little about everything
This is a great first book for those who want to start riding inside but do not know how. Two things to know: first, this is not a book about how to use spin bikes. If you a proud Peloton owner, or consider a Peloton-like spin bike, this is not a book for you. This is a book on how to use bike trainers, either full scale ones like Wahoo Kickr Bike, or attachments for the bike, like Wahoo KICKR. The second thing, it is an introduction into indoor biking, but not a comprehensive book on everything you may need or want to know. There are much more detailed and advanced books on training and racing with a power meter, which you will find useful when you set up your home trainer.Indoor cycling, with cycling apps, like Zwift or Rouvy or The Sufferfest, can be very engaging and entertaining. It is a huge step from pedaling while staring that the blank wall, or watching TV. It is a good non-impact sport, very safe, very aerobic, good for all ages. However, the cost of equipment can be fairly substantial. This book can help you understand what you need before you start spending money. It is written by a very well respected coach, Joe Friel, who knows a lot about cycling training, in collaboration with his co-author who appears to be an expert in indoor cycling gear and apps. As of the time of this writing (Jan 2021), the book remains very up-to-date.

Expecting more
Book (and articles) by Joe Friel are always informative and educational. This one was particularly interesting because of our (2020) situation by addressing indoor biking. I’ve always been a runner and long time TrainingPeaks user so familiar with Joe. Recovering from Achilles tendinitis and not running, I decided to be more serious about my biking. I had a trainer and “discovered“ this book. Needless to say good book. I was hoping for some recommendations on what my week could look like. However Joe’s provides the components on how to build the schedule. Now comes the hard work, figuring out the schedule.

Only if you have Zwift
If you have a smart trainer or a Peloton bike this is an OK book. Also, if you have Zwift it is OK. However, if you use any other app or use a "non-smart" trainer you will get little use out of this book.

Every one who owns a bike needs this book
I have never written a book review. This one really deserves the maximum thumbs up. I especially love how he describes the pros and cons of each kind of set up and when and why you might want to use it.

Disappointing
I was waiting for some direction like hour pattern, tss pattern, a weekly advise, yearly advice so to help to create a schedule indoor, but no. This is a bad copy of his previous books training appendix (4 pages or so) and the general information of indoor training like "indoor has many apps" or "indoors needs fans". Thumbs down.

Basic introduction to indoor riding.
Nice overview if not experienced with indoor training. A little lacking if longterm power based athlete ie from Computrainer- pre Zwift rider.Highly recommend if brand new. Lots of good wish i knew when i started stuff.

Nuttig boek
Kende Joe Friel al. Dit boek leest ook heel makkelijk weg. Heel begrijpelijk geschreven. Veel wist ik al, maar ook veel geleerd. Ben blij met het boek. Top.

Love Joe and I love this book
I purchased the audio version of this book first and then I purchased so I had it to reference the info.If you are training inside for the first time, this book is a must to understand how to train properly and not over train.
