Netgear N300 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router (C3000)
We had Time Warner Cable installed about a week ago and decided to purchase the Netgear N300 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router (C3000) instead of renting one. The installers set it up with no problems and said they were familiar with this modem router and it was an easy one to install. We have had it a week and after only having DSL for year (we live in a rural area where this was our only option for an Internet connection at 1.5 mbps). Now we have 50 mbps and love the speed we can load pages. The Wifi works great for my Kindles and laptop computer and not once in the first week have we been without service using this new modem router. If you want a router to Time Warner this one works great in Eastern North Carolina.

No problems to report
Why did I buy it?I needed a router to avoid Comcast rental's fee.Does it work? The installation by the Comcast guy was super easy and it took less then 10 minutes. I then changed the network id an password in 2 minutes following the instructions on the router itself.I have used the router for more than 1 month now and I never had an issue: it never throttled my speed and I can reach almost the speed I have when using an ethernet cable.I live in a studio and the router has enough range to cover all of it.Pros:- Easy installation- Good range (at least for a small/medium apartment)- It allows you to avoid rental's feesCons:- A bit expensiveBottom line:The modem/router has been working perfectly and I can't complain about anything, except the fact that it's a bit expensive but, if you consider that Comcast charges you around 10 bucks per month to rent their router to you, you will break even after 10 months.

Decent Modem/Router
I purchased this modem/router to get away from renting one from Comcast. I had no problems setting this up with Comcast. The call took about 8 minutes to have them set up the mac address in their system. Unfortunately, I didn't try connecting with anything other than my tablet (Nexus 7). When I got up the next day and tried connecting with my phone (Droid Razr M), I found that I didn't have any internet. My phone was connected, I just couldn't surf the web. I tried connecting with my TV (Vizio something or other) and found that it couldn't access the internet, either. No problems connecting on the ol' laptop, however. After just about returning and ordering a completely different brand, I found that I was having a "VPN Pass-through" issue. There's a simple "patch" that's available on the Netgear support page that was easy to use. Once I installed the patch, everything worked perfectly. Someone who's not very tech savvy might have problems with it but it was pretty easy to do once you figure it out. Because of this issue, though, I'm only rating this 4 stars. The WiFi works well enough, but if you have a larger dwelling, you might want to purchase a range extender for $20 that'll give you extra coverage. I like the "guest" feature that you can set up, too, so that you don't have to give your *real* password out to guests. You can set that up with or without a password, although, making it secure prevents neighbors from connecting and using your internet for free. All in all, this modem/router is doing what it was purchased for... saving me money, and connecting me to the interwebs.

Pays for itself!
I have Comcast for wifi only, and I was trying to get rid of their modem so I could get out of the monthly modem rental fee. I don't have cable - all of my "tv" watching is from streaming or an antenna that I have to pick up a couple local channels for the news. So good wifi is extremely important in my house.I plugged this in on Saturday, easily activated it with Comcast following only the directions in the box, and even changed the wifi name/password within 15 minutes. I have a 1200 square feet 2-story townhouse and the router sits at the very back left corner of the first floor. I have a smart tv upstairs in the front of the house, and after plugging this in I went upstairs to stream an episode of Friends on Netflix to test the power. I didn't have a single glitch. This works great for me and will pay for itself in 9 months!
