Perfect Primer for my project Jeep
I am restoring a 1978 Jeep CJ7 and doing a custom paint job at home. The Jeep will be painted black and orange, the black primer is perfect for this project as a base coat. This primer is very easy to mix and apply with a compressor spray gun, a little goes a long way! So far, I have primed the front end and only used half a can, leaving a can and a half left to complete the job, plenty for my needs. After wet-sanding with an ultra fine grit, the need for a second coat is not expected. With proper painting technique, I have not run into any runs in the paint, and an even coat.I purchased the same brand of black paint to accompany the primer, and anticipate superior results.

Could not fully mix - Stubborn solids
I've been a huge fan of Custom Shop products for some time now, as I've ordered many times from TCP Global. However, this last batch of primer was extraordinarily difficult to use. The solids just would not mix. I used a drill-attached mixer, I took the can do a paint shop to have them mix it in a machine, and there was still solids at the bottom of the can that would not mix. Additional mixing with a drill attachment after having the can shaken did not help get the last significant chunks of solids to mix. Shooting the primer like this gave me a highly glossy finish (more resin, less solids), which was a royal pain to sand down. Upon contacting the seller, they assured the solids in the can were normal, and that it would mix, but was not the case. Upon looking at reviews again, this looks to be the case for a few other buyers here as well. I'm fairly certain I got a bad can of primer. Additionally, one of the two cans I received was dented, so it was VERY difficult to close the lid and create a proper seal after opening it. I'll be making the jump to Speedokote for my next batch of primer.

Worked Well
My 1990 Toyota pickup had the bad clear coat issue and I needed to take it all the way down to metal in some spots since the original primer was compromised. I originally wanted to get the black primer but all the clumping reviews made me choose the gray. No issues with mixing and impressed with the durability of the product. I shot the single stage color after the 20 min flash time of this product since I had read there can be adhesion issues of the paint if you wait till after a 48 - 72 hour window (but do your own research: I’m not a paint expert just telling you what worked for me). Now I feel confident to fix any issues with scratches/dents in the future since I have a solid primer coat under the paint.

Product needs to be mixed with the mixer that you don’t have at your house
Pigment is hard at the bottom and needs to be mixed with a paint mixer most people at their home do not have this. So take some heavy duty quick ties cut them about 7 inches long or how long you need them put all the product inside of another container, make a lid with a hole in it run the quick ties through and spin it with your drill. It will beat the living hell out of it and bust it all up and mix it up nice and smooth and then pour it back into the original containers, that’s how I was able to get mine to work . for better reviews premix your product before you send them out
