Works with the Microsoft Easy Transfer Program
This did the job of transferring Windows settings, documents and other items from the old computer to the new computer (XP to Windows 7). BUT it will NOT transfer programs. You will get a report afterwards and then you get to install all your programs on the new computer. AND if they are locked because you already used the registration code, then you can try to call the program manufacturer to see if it can be released OR buy the program again.MS wonders why people wont upgrade, it's because I have to buy half the programs over again and reinstall everything for a day or so before everything works. This cable was as fast as network, IMO. I will keep it. It took about 3-4 hours to copy about 100-130 GB of documents and settings and other stuff. It did work for my windows XP to Windows 7 transfer.

XIM Apex users using XIM Link
If you are a XIM APEX user who wants to use your PC' keyboard and mouse with XIM LINK then I can confirm that this cable works perfectly. I can confirm currently that it works as expected when using a XBOX Series X and a Playstation 5 console (The playstation 5 console will only work with the third party controller mod as expected). This works perfectly with a wireless mouse (Logitech G900 and G903) and a Logitech wired keyboard. When initially connecting the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable, make sure that you update the drivers for the device by finding the support page for the product on the Belkin support website and following the onscreen instructions. In addition make sure to follow all of the instructions that the XIM APEX manufacturers have outlined is necessary for XIM Link to work.I can also confirm that Logitech scripts also work through the XIM Link, giving you an even further advantage when playing many games, such as games that feature high recoil on console since you will no be able to just use an undetectable recoil script to make console gaming an absolute walk in the park.

Simple task made complicated
Pros: Transfers are made using software that is installed from a CD that's included with the cable. It is simple to use, and the transfer rate is adequate.Cons: Directory list boxes drive the process. Checked files and directories are transferred; unchecked ones aren't. The problem is, every time the transfer process is initiated, it defaults to transferring ALL the files! This isn't so bad if you're migrating essentially all of the contents of an old PC to a new one, but if you only want to only transfer select files, you're going to have to deal with the frustrations of the very limited functionality of this software. That's because the default selection is everything on the old hard drive! To transfer only a few files, you must uncheck the boxes for all the directories and files that you don't want transferred. Any that you inadvertently don't uncheck will be re-transferred. The software makes no effort to determine if the file already exists on the new drive. Besides being very tedious (and it can get very, very tedious the third or fourth time through), there is another gotch-ya. The software transfers several system control files, and if you have installed new software on your new PC and initiate a new USB cable transfer, those control files are over-written. This happened to me and I had to re-install several application programs because the subsequent transfer caused me to lose access to them.Although the cable and software did the job I needed, I have to believe that there are products out there that would have been a better choice. I just can't recommend this product. I would not buy it again.

The Help Desk is Really A Sales Desk
Ultimately the transfer works but a call to their help desk was an issue. I could not figure out how to get the transfer to go to my C drive instead of my D drive on the new computer. I called help desk and they down loaded software to enable them to run both computers remotely. Then they downloaded security software, ran a scan and told me that I had 66 registry errors. However, for a mere $169, I could get the security software and help desk assistance for a year - what a deal. I told the man from Mumbai that was ridiculous price for security software, that the best of breed was on $49 plus tax. He then proceeded to transfer the data and told me that their would be a slight charge for his service - that's when I hung up as its clearly marked on the software box that help desk is free. I observed what he did to fix my problem which took about 10 seconds. In conclusion, the Help desk's primary mission is to sell you over priced security software - having either succeeded or failed in their sales effort, then they fix the problem. It took over an hour for help desk to fix the issue because the downloads were on both computers, the problem could have been solved quickly. Ultimately, the transfer software works fairly well, not all on the old computer was transferred. If you want to waste a lot of time, this is the software for you.
