SLIK U8000 - Sturdy and Lightweight - great value.
The SLIK brand tripod was referred to me by a professional photographer to use with Speedlight's when photographing home interiors for real estate. I have been using the SLIK U9000 for the past year and absolutely love it. I especially love the 'speed release leg locks'. The U8000 model arrived today and they are fabulous. Feel sturdy in-hand, perfect height, same speed release leg locks and these have a solid non-slip foot, which is great on hard floor surfaces and will not scratch. My U9000 has the twist foot with metal tip for outdoor use which I have to double check each time the foot is fully covering the metal tip when using indoors. - I highly recommend both of these models. they are equally of great value, sturdy, lightweight, easy to set up in seconds.** I love this tripod so much, I just ordered a 4th. They are study and lightweight and I totally love the solid soft rubber at the bottom. many homes I photograph have wood or tile floors and these prevent from scratching the floors or from sliding around. ** The larger quick plate is even better for mounting flash and umbrella bracket, it stays more secure on the tripod. **

Quick and easy
Much easier to adjust legs than the screw type. Helatively light but stable enough for my 7 lb pochade box

Great portable tripod for the money
Not meant to hold heavy equipment, but a decent sturdy tripod for a regular Digital SLR camera or smaller video camera. I ordered a few replacement tripod quick-release mounting plates to have an extra and be able to leave one on my camera for easy use. This is super lightweight, easy to use and perfect to store in your car or a duffle bag. This is my second one - my last one had for 20+ years - accidently broke the handle.

Would have been 5 stars but due to just one exception...
I'm very please with this tripod. The operation is solid, smooth and precise. And I was very tempted to give this 5 stars but was not able to due to the camera mount screw being an exposed flat head screw that requires either a coin or small flat edge to tighten it up to the camera. They really should have put a knurled wheel around this screw so that you could hand tighten it to your camera base. Most people do have coins with them and can readily fish one out of their pocket/book to tighten the screw. But iI think it's a bit short-sighted on SLIK's part as even my 50 year old tripod incorporated this means to easily hand tighten and anchor the screw to the camera base..The tripod finish is terrific, smooth and satin-like as the material lends itself to being strong yet lightweight (about 3 lbs.). The legs and feet are quickly and fully adjustable for most any length and surface I think you'll encounter. The small bubble balance is visible and should prove to be of assistance if you're inclined to wonder about your camera's level. The lever and crank to pivot, adjust as well as swivel is just what you would expect in operating smoothly and supporting any viewing angle you desire.I use this with a Canon EOS Rebel series and as it supports that weight just fine and am sure it would support quite a bit heavier of equipment as well. Overall I'm please with this tripod and think it was a good investment.

Best Tripod for the price!
I have had one of these SLIK tripods since 2015 and I think it is a marvelous product. If you need a tripod for home or amateur photo or video work you won't go wrong with this one. I recently bought a second one to use at my church. Professional photographers and videographers will want something heavier than this unit, but mine has held up through a lot of travel and hard use. I have a Nikon D5200 and a little Sony video camera that I have used without any kind of problem. I had a Wal Mart cheapo before buying one of these that broke just because it was cheap plastic. The SLIK has plastic parts but they are very durable and well engineered to stand up to the stresses placed on them. If you need a tripod I would recommend this one.

Can't beat it for the $$
For me this was a perfect find. OK, I'm 75 and will not be climbing Everest so I don't need a carbon fiber, ultra light, $2,000 tripod. I need a light one that is tall enough to see over my office window so I can "shoot" the birds in the Juniper tree.....Being just 4lbs. its light enough for me to pack around where ever I might go. I wanted a "Fluid head" because the handle is very convenient for me to use. I wanted a winding lever to raise and lower to camera with as it is much easier for my old hands! I tried several cheaper ones but that were lacking in quality. This Slik U-884 has it all - - - and for $40! Not fancy though.

Robust, well-made tripod, but not really "heavy duty"
Very pleased with the tripod - it has a very nice silky feel to the catches and threads that hold the head in place. I wouldn't call it 'heavy duty' by any stretch, but it can handle my Nikon D50 with a Nikkor 70-300mm zoom on it, without much problem.I have used a video tripod with my camera and it kept everything pretty tight and steady, for even long night-time shots. This one does the same, but isn't as heavy or bulky to carry. However, if you have an older, heavier camera or use heavier lenses, this might not be for you. For all-purpose serious amateur use with modern cameras, it's fine. Pretty lightweight for travelling and fits very nicely in the bag, which I also bought (from separate Amazon vendor).Minor irritations - I probably could use a few more inches on this, as I'm 6' 2", but it's manageable. Also screw plate that fixes to the camera needs to be screwed down quite tightly to prevent movement. Otherwise all fine so far - very happy with the product and vendor.

Great price
I use the tripod for my plein air easel and it's just to flimsy! Falls down with the slightest wind, so I am holding on to it most of the time. I have done some weights but it's still too light weight to hold up in the wind. I will be looking for an alternative.
