THEY WORK GREAT!!
I purchased this remote, being not quite sure if it would work. We have Sony HDRCX240 video cameras. I searched and searched for something that would say if these remotes would work with them. Even the Sony website did not list them as compatible, however, they also did not list them as incompatible either. THEY WORK GREAT!!!!! There is one small catch. You have to have the remote plugged into the camera BEFORE you turn it on, otherwise they do not initialize properly. But, if you have them plugged in first, they work perfectly. They have a slow and a fast zoom mode based on how hard you push the button, they control the record function, they will trip the photo function, and they will turn the camera on and off. They are completely plastic and are light weight, however, I would not say they feel cheap or anything. They are a remote... They are quite expensive for what they are, but given they are the ONLY remote that will work with the entire line of Sony cameras (including the VERY inexpensive one we have) they are well worth it. To purchase a Sony camera with the LANC connector you are basically in the $1,000+ range. The HDRCX240s that we have were $128 and this allows them to be tripod mounted and an operator can have very nice control and perform smooth zooms and pans while recording with a great deal of operator ease.

Excellent Remote!
This works seamlessly on my Sony a7r cameras and Sony a1. I do a lot of long exposure photography and the shutter release and lock buttons are on point. You know when you are doing something in the feel of both buttons. I recently purchased a competitor remote that looked identical but the button and slider were stiff and the slider barely moved, making you unsure if you were actually doing something. The only thing I wish Sony would do with this remote to make it better is make the cord longer! Other than that, you get what you pay for and this remote is excellent!

Add one more thumbs up
Sony has dropped a few passes lately, so I thought it might be useful to state, for the record, that this remote is not one of their fumbles. Indeed, the thing works exactly as advertised, jacks into the "Multi" port on newer Handycams and the RX100 series of still cameras, and it works flawlessly. I think the zoom function works better using this remote than it does on either the Handycam or RX bodies - not uncommon. And I have particular praise for the clip which allows one to clamp onto a tripod handle or even a tripod leg on mini-tripods (when the handle is too short or too fat). Clamping appears to work best on handles or legs from about the diameter of a pencil up to something the size of an average thumb. This is a nice product and an accessory I consider a "must-have" for the RX100 & M2, which don't come with wireless remotes.

It does what it does...
...but too expensive for its purpose. Unfortunately, this is the only way to remote control a Sony A7IV in BULB setting. Sony should have allowed one to set exposure time in BULB mode in their Imaging Edge Desktop app at the very least. It looks ridiculous, one needs two cables, a USB-C connection from my computer running Imaging Edge Desktop to control my camera to shoot up to 30s, and another to another port on same camera, running from this Sony remote, to control when shooting >30s in BULB. Sigh...

Cable is too short. Workaround if you have a MULTI connector on your camcorder.
The remote works great and very quietly, however, as other reviewers have complained, the cable is way too short. I am trying to take video of shy wildlife in my backyard using a Sony CX-430V camcorder and I need the distance. Since my camcorder uses that darn exclusive MULTI connector, this was my solution:1. I bought an 8 function LANC remote for Sony camcorders.2. LANC extension cable. I believe they are 6' to 100'. I bought a 20'.3. An AV/LANC converter cable.4. Sony VMCAVM1 R adaptor cable. Converts AV to MULTI connector.I strung all these cables together and the camcorder works fine. The whole thing cost me a bit more than the Sony remote but I am able to get as long an extension cable as I want while still using the MULTI port on my camcorder.Note: I have read that this method will not work with camcorders made after 2013.

Works great for the Sony RX100 VII
For the Sony RX100 VII camera I first purchased the 'Mcoplus RM-VS1 39.4 Inches Remote Control Shutter Release Cord with Multi Terminal Cable as RM-VPR1 Replcement for Sony... which didn't work. I returned it for the Sony remote control Basically plug and play. The half-press on the shutter button was easy and smooth. The zoom feather is nice and I can turn on and off the camera with the slide switch on the side of the remote control. A little expensive but worth it considering how cheaply made the replacement units are made.

A Great remote for Sony Video recording as well as photography.
I love this product. While filming review videos, I constantly have to run back and forth starting and stopping recording. This allows me to do it without disturbing the shot. I had a hard time finding a remote that would allow me to control video recording on a Sony A6000 but this works great. It also allows zoom function too, at least with the sony lenses I have tried so far. I really love this remote, it seems very well made and I highly recommend it. There is an extension cable available to which lets you extend to (I think) another 16 feet if needed as well.

This Remote Works Extremely Well for the A7 family of cameras
The cable is long enough, it has a clip mount if you want to set it and forget it, it has a zoom feature which may be of value if you want to zoom remotely ( I use primes when I am using the remote trigger so that was not what I purchased it for), and the trigger and lock works well. It does exactly what it is sold as, and has worked well on several night excursions I have made with it.
