So far, so good.
Edited 2/3/2016 with some extra notes.Got this for a little extra warmth for my "office", and so far, so good. My "office" is in quotes because I'm actually in an odd shaped multi-purpose room that is bigger than your typical 10x10 office. Note that this is being used for supplemental heat. The whole office has central heating/AC, but my corner does not get very good flow, so is a bit cold while the rest of the office is comfortable.Pros: Nice slim design, light weight, easy to move around as necessary, but seems reasonably stable. Cord length is reasonable (~4' cord, two prong polarized.)Cons: No actual temperature setting.Observations: Definitely need to do the break-in procedure (run it on max/high in a well ventilated area for at least 30 mins.), otherwise you will get a nasty odor from it. There are two dials, one is a High/Low/off control that controls the overall unit. The other is an indicator dial running from 1-6. You pick a setting (High/Low), crank it to 6, then when the room is warm enough, back off the number dial just until the temperature sensor "clicks." After that, it's set. As long as you don't change the number dial, it will go back to that set "temperature."It isn't totally silent, but I think you would have to be very sensitive to noise if it really bothered you. I find that even my typing on the computer, or a background radio washes it out completely. The thermostat clicks when it triggers, but otherwise it is mostly silent. When you move the unit around there's also a sound that is probably the tip-over sensor inside. Sounds almost like something is loose, but it's not. It's a heater, so yes, the front grill and where the grill wraps up to the top gets hot to the touch. I don't have a thermometer or way of reading the exact temperature, but it's not hot enough to burn at a light touch, but definitely not something you'd want to grab onto. The back gets warm to the touch, but nothing dangerous. The sides remain cool to the touch. The carrying handle slot near the top back gets warm, but unfortunately it's also near the top grill opening, so you could end up touching the grill if you weren't careful. I wouldn't have this running unsupervised where small children who don't understand the danger might grab the grill, though I don't think they'd suffer any real damage by just touching it (and they'd probably learn to not touch it by doing so...)On high it does draw a lot of power, so you will need to be careful with whatever else you have plugged into that circuit. The specs say it draws over 13amps on high. Your typical circuit is 15 or 20 amps, so if you have too much other stuff on that circuit it may trip the breaker.I just recently got the unit, so no idea as to durability yet. Only time will tell. Should anything change, I'll update my ratings, but for now, this unit does what I expected, and has given me no issues. As of 2/3/2016, no issues so far. Heats up nice and fast, no odor, or noise. Does a great job of warming my office.

Does Exactly What I Needed It To Do
I debated buying the Dr. Heater infrared heater instead of this DeLonghi one. The reviews I read were good for both units, but their were a few things that concerned me about the Dr. Heater. 1) More than a few people commented on the lack of longevity of their Dr. Heaters. 2) There were several reviewers who commented about their Dr. Heater's being a fire hazard. 3) The price of the Dr. Heater .One of the reviewers of the Dr. Heater mentioned that he purchased this DeLonghi Micathermal heater & was extremely pleased with it. I looked up & researched this heater. I am so glad I did.I live in a relatively moderate climate where the winter temps are generally around 40-50 degrees in the daytime & not usually lower than the teens overnight. However, we do have some nights that dip into single digits. And I live in a house that leaks like a sieve. The windows have nearly no insulating factor at all, the ceiling insulation is R-10, and my bedroom is a converted garage....that has 30 year old windows. 16 feet by 8 feet of windows in my converted garage bedroom, which measures 26 feet long by 21 feet wide. This is the room for which I wanted an area heater. This heater could not have performed any better for my needs. My room would get down to the low 60's at night even though my thermostat for the furnace was set at 70. That's just not comfortable for me. I turn this heater on high at a setting of 6 (there is a low & high setting as well as heat settings 1-6) about an hour before bed. When I get into bed, the room temp is now 69 degrees (YAY!). I set the heater to the low setting, still at heat level 6, for the remainder of the night. The room is now comfortable all night long, staying at a comfy 68-70 degrees. The heater is advertised as "silent", which is very very close to true. It emits an extremely low humming noise & I do mean very very quiet. You have to listen for the noise to hear it. It heats up fast, but remains safe to touch, especially the back of the unit. The front gets warmer than the back, but still not blistering hot is you happen to touch it accidentally. There is no blower, so the heat does not project itself intensely around the room. If you want a space heater that will "warm your bones" or thaw you out, you need one of those heaters that glows red & gets lava hot. This one is perfect if you are looking to warm your room by a few degrees over a longer period of time. This heater also comes with mounting hardware that allows you to mount the unit on a wall!Since I've only had the unit for a short time, I cannot comment on its longevity, but I'm very pleased with everything so far.UPDATE March 8, 2018:. This heater is still going as strong as on day one. I love it and highly recommend it
