Size (Math Counts)

Size (matters)
Out of several of the Math Counts series of books that I purchased for my son I like this one the best. Not only does it introduce the basics of size, big and small, but it also throws in the concept of perspective in a simple way. The book uses an airplane to demonstrate this, as the plane is farther away, it looks smaller, as we get closer the airplane looks bigger. The notion of relativity is also introduced, a coat may be too big or too small depending on the person wearing it. This is a really well thought out book that delves into the different aspects of size in simplistic terms that young children can relate to.

Perfect for Kindergarten fun.
Granddaughter loved interactive fun reading this math book. We gathered household items measuring & comparing size. Good for teaching concepts.

Conceptualize Math!
This whole Math Counts series is great! They are a fun, easy way to introduce kids as early as 3 (my son's age) to math concepts. The large colorful photographs of everyday things help reinforce the different concepts. It helps kids to see the differenes in length, shapes in everyday things, patterns in things all around them, etc. Not too wordy, but great at getting the point accross.

Pictures Say 1,000 Words
This is part of the set from Math Count. It's ok for some brief reading on different sizes. Not extremely catchy for preschool children.

nice, simple, math resource for the young
This book was so well used, we actually had to order a replacement. The series is very good at keeping the math concepts simple, with good pics, for younger learners and their parents.
