Highly recommend!
Pros: Even though this lamp is made of plastic it is surprisingly sturdy once you get it together and it doesn't look cheap. It provides an amazing amount of light without being too harsh. Everyone who has seen it loves it. The cord is very sturdy and a lot thicker than a traditional lamp cord. It lights my living room better than the 2 lamps I was using before (which had 3 light bulbs each).Cons: There is no on/off switch on the cord, so to turn on/off you must plug/unplug each time (Unless you have a light switch controlled outlet [which is what I have it plugged into}). If you don't mind doing this then I recommend getting at least one. I have a very bad back so it's not convenient for me to do this. Another con is the instructions are unlabeled pictures and I started it wrong at first which caused the holes to be slightly stretched out. Also the tabs can come out while you are putting the next piece in and that was frustrating. It's really not hard to put together as long as you get the first few pieces in right.I liked it so much I ordered another one but have yet to put the second one up until I get a remote controlled outlet. I like Ikea and the last 2 lamps were from there, which worked great until my cat decided to use the floor length shades as scratching posts. I'm glad I made this purchase I think you will be too.

great apartment therapy item
I have a "can" in the ceiling of my condo that once hosted a ceiling fixture that something happened to. All the electrical stuff still works, though, and I essentially use the fixture as an outlet for other lamps. I re-decorated and suddenly what I thought was a foolish place for a ceiling fixture seemed reasonable. However, to replace the broken fixture, I would need an electrician, so the Knappa pendant seemed like the perfect thing, and it is. I was able to use the structure of the old fixture to hang the Knappa pendant. The Knappa pendant does not have a switch, so I took another reviewer's advice and bought the cord with the dimmer -- so cool! The pendant is not very heavy. The only part with any weight is the bulb housing. I tried it out with a conventional 60-watt bulb, but that bulb got hot. So, I took another reviewer's advice and got an LED bulb, which stays very cool. The assembly is not that difficult or time-consuming, but it is certainly confusing, and the "instructions" are useless. If you have read the reviews, you know this already. Take advantage of relevant youtube videos. The thing that I failed to understand is that the "petals" overlap, so every other "pin" (going from top to bottom) has two "petals" attached. The "petals" with the notches go on the bottom, so save those for last, and start at the top with the very numerous un-notched "petals." Look at the picture of the finished lamp to see if you seem to be proceeding correctly. As for the frame (that you have to assemble), the completely open ring goes the bottom (so you can easily change the bulb). I have been re-decorating my investment property, and every week, I change something and see if my husband will notice what I've done. This pendant got rave reviews. This is the perfect thing for those who want to make a statement with a ceiling fixture but are not comfortable doing their own electrical work and don't want to pay an electrician. Do keep in mind that the "petals" are just thin plastic. You could definitely make this thing yourself, but do you want to? One questioner was concerned about the size -- didn't want something tiny. I had the opposite concern -- didn't want something huge. It's pretty big, so the concern about large size is more relevant than the concern about small size. Though large size was a concern, I was prepared for it, and I am completely happy with my purchase.

Ceiling Blossom
As someone who prefers ambient lighting, I found this decorative light fixture to be relatively easy on the eyes. I actually had fun putting it together (I built models as a kid) and watching it "bloom" into a lamp before my eyes.... though it did get a little tricky towards the end reaching in to snap the last few petals into place without causing others to come unsnapped. The finished product was a bit larger than I expected, and I had to reconfigure the space I'd allocated for it. I'd recommend allowing at least 3' diameter if you're not putting it dead center of your ceiling. You'll also probably want to buy a switched plug to run it through, as it has no on/off switch anywhere. I bought a dimmer cable to run it through, and they work beautifully together; as a light source or illuminated decoration, I consider this a classy addition to my living room.

IKEA Knappa Light
I love this light from IKEA! It did not cost very much and looks amazing. The reason for the 4 stars is because it only came with a cord for plugging to an outlet. However, this did not work since I wanted to use it as a pendant light. But, I found a pendant kit on that works it also comes in white and black but I thought the nickel personally worked best; Westinghouse Lighting 7028400 Single-Light Mini-Pendant Kit with Nickel Finish . Also there is some assembly required but did not take too long to put together. Overall this light is worth the cost and looks great but if you want to use it as a pendant then I would also buy a pendant kit as well.

Beautiful "Lotus-Like" Light!
I love, love, love this light! It's so unique in its 3-dimensional shape. It did take about 20 minutes to put together, but once you figure it out, it's simple. (The instructions have no words, just pictures and arrows, so it takes a few brow wrinkling moments to comprehend, but then it's simple.) It uses a regular Type A bulb up to 60W. I'm using mine in a spa setting, though, so went with a 25W. However, I might even downgrade to a 15W for a barely there, even softer glow. The cord is plenty long (my ceiling is at least 9ft and I had plenty of cord to stretch back to the corner and go down the wall). If you can make it into a pendant light so that the cord didn't show, that'd make it even better. Unfortunately the cord is white and my wall is brown, so still trying to figire out how to conceal that. There is no on-off switch, so you do have to unplug and plug it in every time. I suppose a remote of some sort could fix that problem, though. I just love the look of it! Oh, and the thing is super light weight, so no need to find a beam to hang it from. As long as your ceiling is in tact, it should hold just fine!
