Encouraging, funny read
As a woman who grew up in the South, I appreciate that Susannah B. Lewis is a funny southern woman, but this book is great for a different reason. If you've ever wondered why so many of us love Jesus, this book explains our love well. Susannah testifies to the healing power of God's great love for us as she writes of the joyful/hilarious and challenging/painful moments of her life. As she points out, God is present, faithful and active through all the seasons of our lives as He guides us to our purpose. You will laugh and cry and nod your head through this book. As you drink in the encouragement, I'm betting you'll grow in awareness of God's redemptive love and your many blessings. Just remember to "eat the Mississippi Mud Cake" as you read Susannah's words.

Southern wit and humor and wisdom, just like mama used to tell me.
I pre-ordered this book, and it killed me that I had to wait to get my hands on it. Let me tell you, SO WORTH IT. If you are breathing, and if you have ever had a moment where you thought, "Well, this just sucks, and what am I supposed to do now?!", and if you have ever thought, "How in the world did THIS happen?!", you need this book.Susannah B. Lewis is a Southern girl, as am I. That makes me love her right off the bat. She's from a small town. She has lost both her parents. She's a mom. I can relate to all these things. She throws down some serious truth here, and does it in a way that will make you laugh and cry (and maybe laugh and cry at the same time) and want to reach into the book and give her a big ol' hug.She writes about her life and the truths she's learned in the living of it. She shares glimpses into her past and present and weaves in Scriptural truth. You don't even have to be Southern, or a mom, or from a small town, to appreciate it. The wisdom found here is universal.Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this book. Sit down. Devour it. And then you'll want to read it again. Trust me on this one.

Funny, witty, great read!
I got this book in 2019. Forgot to leave a review! I was reading it again this week (because it's definitely one you can read again and I'm waiting for her newest book to release next week 🙂) & decided I should leave a review. Susannah is a funny, witty, RELATABLE Christian gal. And that definitely shines through in her writing. ☆☆☆☆☆

Vulnerable, Encouraging, Entertaining, and Challenging
I bought the digital copy with the audiobook, and I am so thankful I got the audiobook! To hear Susannah, the author, read her book to my husband and me was like she was there with us telling us her life story. We listened to this on our drive from Virginia to Georgia. It was a 10 hour drive that didn't feel so long because it was like we had Susannah in the car with us telling us her story. The audiobook is about 4 hours and 15 minutes and so very enjoyable. This book is great for women, but also great for men! My husband loved the book! We loved how she would so easily bring up scripture and apply it to her situation and story. She is so encouraging! We are the same age, and I feel like I should share my story with her because I feel like we're friends/family, now. She tells her story so well - I was laughing, crying, and so encouraged throughout the book. I love her videos, and I love this book! It is a great witness for Christ, and I am so proud of Susannah B. Lewis for witnessing for Christ! I am looking forward to her next book. My parents have also bought the book with the audiobook!

Get it. Read it. Read it again.
I have followed Susannah for several years and laughed and cried with her on many occasions. This is her first non-fiction book and I was blessed to get to read the first 8 chapters prior to the release date, which I finished the same night I received it. It’s fantastic. We all face so many different things in life, both good and bad. We live in a fallen world and stuff happens. She does a wonderful job of telling trials and things she has walked through and then pointing us to the Creator and His Word got strength and comfort in everything we walk through.Bonus bit of God’s glory: She wrote a chapter (and made a video on Facebook I watched and cried through) about her prayer for a baby. She has two children and has been praying through unexplained fertility for 6 years for another one. She wrote a chapter about having faith in God’s plan and timing to fulfill the desires of her heart. After her book was finished and submitted to the publisher, she found out she was pregnant and just weeks before the book was released, she gave birth to her third child.I highly recommend it for anyone that walks through trials in life...which is you.

From one Southern, parentless mom to another
I started this book knowing it would be amazing. I have read Tens Years Taken and Unfortunate Ursula Underwood, both of which I truly enjoyed. But when I started reading CMTSU, I couldn’t put it down even amidst chaos that was going on around me. I grabbed the book as I was dashing out the house to bring my husband for an emergent procedure. Well, while he was in the surgery room, I started reading as a way to keep my mind off what was going. During the short hour he was gone I laughed, I cried, I laughed, and I cried some more in that small recovery room where I knew they’d be wheeling my husband back in before long. I kept looking at the door, hoping a nurse or doctor wouldn’t walk in amidst my tears or laughing spells. Excuse my rambling, but this book hits home to this southern, parentless mom of two stinky boys who I wouldn’t trade for a million and two reasons. I am a huge fan of Susannah B. Lewis and would recommend this book to every mom on this planet- whether you’re Christian or not, parentless or not, Southern or not. It’s a wonderful book.

Not funny storytelling, but the story of her life.
This is a book about storytelling, not telling funny and interesting stories. It's the story of her life. The title and intro is a bit misleading. Secondly, half of each chapter is about her Christian faith. Which is fine, but should also be said in the intro.
