Superior to shipping storing many liquids to create beautiful colors.
Cleans up with water even once dry on clothes. Colors can be thin like watercolor or opaque. Dry color "mistakes" can be creatively covered over to surprise effects. Great value compared to bottled or tubes of paint.

Great for any you Artist!
I bought 4 of these sets not realizing how fairly big these are. I teach Art in High School and I have quite a few Special Ed students from our Self-Contained Unit. I use to provide them with my regular tempra paint but it was so messy for them. They would get paint on themselves or the brush handle and bristles would be drench in paint...causing them to get dirty and upset. However, they LOVE to paint. I purchased these out of my pocket to try them out. I have 4 students per table and these fulfill all of their artistic needs! When the colors get too dirty, I just wipe them down with a paper towel and they are ready for the next project. The paint is opaque enough to cover heavy 110LB card stock and paper plates!!

No more wasted paint!
We have been using the liquid tempura paints now for about two years, and I decided to try these. I am really happy with them. No paint to waste, make sure your brush is clean before going to white (but can also wipe off individual cakes if they get a different color on them). We have used these for finger paints and it will stain the skin. My son got some of the blue on one of his shirts, and we didn't even soak it, just threw it in the wash (days later) and it came out just fine. Is not as thick on brush as a liquid paint, but you can get it to that consistency. Has three open spots on the cake tray to mix colors in. Love that you just place the top back on, and they dry out and are reusable.

Good except missing brush
Good tempera cakes, activate with water quickly, mix colors pretty well. I included quick silly sketch with a peachy skin tone I mixed up quickly. A star docked because paint brush not included with my set.

GROSS
Ordered three to use with my students. The products that arrived were honestly disgusting. The paint was very old and in poor condition. There was a weird white residue coating most of the colors in all three packages and some of the paints in one set appeared to be turning brown. The packages were all messy on the inside and the sticker sealing the side looked like it had been previously opened and resealed. There were also some paint water stains inside the container as if the tempera cakes had previously sweat inside of the box. Overall way too gross to use with students.Already started the return process. I decided to check these out as they were much cheaper than the brand of tempera cakes I usually use with my students but now I regret that decision. I absolutely will not be buying these again.

I enjoy watercolor, and I saw this when I was ...
I enjoy watercolor, and I saw this when I was looking for the old school paint box I remember as a kid.these are large cakes of good pigment. huge cakes that will last a long time.you can dip your brush in egg and the activated paint, for egg tempera but this is also good by itself.after its sat dried for a few months, you can use bee's wax to polish the painting and preserve it.it has the feel of casein paint, but no smell. I like it. lots of fun, and can't wait until I can play paints with the grandbaby.

Lasts a long time
My high schooler used these for art class, and said she prefers these to the liquid tempura paints. She said they have just as vibrant a color and last a long time. Pleased with the purchase.

Love
These are great. It makes clean up easier....lesson mess. The cakes absorb the water well so you can take quite a bit out to mix on a plate or pallette. I like using cakes because the paint is not wasted as much by the students.
