Used to convert from cheap plastic spring catch
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Expensive for what it is, but worked exactly as I had hoped and appears to be high quality. Used this to convert from the cheap spring catch that stopped working. Very pleased with how it turned out, and happy to have a door that stays shut now. The last picture is the previous latch that this replaced.

New magnet installed worst part was removing rusty frame screws.
The original magnet is in the handle with strike plate in the door jamb frame strut. Original completely rusted and falling out but had to use a sharp pick to remove the remainder of old strike plate that was likely glued in. This replaces an 11 year old handle.. Wish they would offer just the magnets and strike plates as the original handle is still good. Removing the old handle was not difficult. I was able to gently work it off. New handle gasket is thinner and new handle is narrower a smidge so fit is pretty tight with the included rubber shim but using rubber mallet gently able to nudge it all the way. New strike plate slid right in top of the door jamb component, once I was able to get the frame parts separated enough to allow the plate to slide in from top. The two screws holding the jamb were very rusted but used some blaster spray penetration solvent took about an hour to work so was able to get screws out without drilling them out. I originally was going to order from the other seller offering this through Amazon but when I posted a question to them they said the magnet goes in the door jamb strut and strike plate is in the handle. My existing handle has the magnet so I ordered from Shower Door Direct. Don't know if this is the case or not but makes sense that the strike plate would be the part to slide into the door jamb as the magnet needs to be glued and works best in the handle. Anyway, the finish is almost the same although not perfect color match. The end result is the door now stays shut to keep the water in the shower. Apart from rusty screws, actual installation pretty straight forward. Basically looks fine, works as expected and wife is happy.

C.R.L Brushed Nickel Shower handle with magnet and base plate
This new shower handle has the magnet, the steel base plate that attaches to the shower frame and of course the handle. My old shower handle magnet had rusted off, and and even though just the magnet are sold separately, it wouldn't have been able to attach to the old handle. A new magnet alone was almost $20.00. This new shower handle offered for me the best deal, new handle, new magnet already attached, and the base plate that attaches to the shower door frame. It fit without issue, with the spacer seal used, tapped it on with a rubber mallet. I understand if you think $30.00 + is high, but outside of fixing it up with something else completely not standard, sometimes you just have to jump in and pay the price. I expect years and years of use with the shower door now closing and staying closed. Plus to me, the Brushed Nickel look is better than the chrome, or brass.

It has good weight and does not feel flimsy at all
It looks clean and is a well machined piece of aluminum. It has good weight and does not feel flimsy at all. The steel strike plate slid right down the rubber gasket channel on the shower door frame. On mine, I had to take the gasket/seal out and cut it in half with the appropriate room for the strike plate. I then slid the bottom section in, dropped the strike plate in and followed it with the second part of the gasket. The handle itself was a little bit too wide and wouldn't stay on the glass itself, even with the silicone slip that they provide. To fix that I just added a little Gorilla Glue (VERY LITTLE as it expands) to the glass, inside/outside of the silicone and to the inside of the handle and I put a line clamp on the part you grip to pinch it on the glass. Now feels rock solid. The magnet is powerful and will hold the door shut, but not too much that you have to put great force on it to open it up.The gap in the handle is about the width of a q-tipOver all a very good fix to an otherwise several hundred dolor replacement. All in all I was done installing after 20 min.

Solid product, requires adjustments to fit old door
I ordered this product to replace a worn out magnetic latch on a 15 year old shower door. The original supplier of the frameless door is still in business, but could not supply replacement parts. Fortunately, Amazon and Showerdoordirect came through with a product I could make work. This handle and magnet reversed the set-up on my existing handle. That is, the magnet is affixed to the handle, and the steel strip to which it attaches slides into a slot in the aluminum door jamb. My old handle had the steel strip glued to it, and the magnet was screwed to the jamb. Nevertheless, with some minor modifications the new handle and magnet worked perfectly.First, I had to use an extra shim for the handle to get it to fit the door. Unfortunately, my old door is 1/128th of an inch thinner than the minimum 3/16" requirement for this handle. After several tries, I dealt with this by using the old plastic shim and one-half of the shim that comes with the new handle. I put the half on one side of the door to get a secure fit. Layering the shims on both sides of the door made it too thick.Next, I had to grind down both sides of the steel strip to get it to fit in the slot on the door jamb. After grinding off about 1/16" of material on each side of the strip, it slid into the slot and provided a secure latch for the door.

Sohwer Door Handle
This shower door handle is an exact replacement for the one that was on my shower door. It is a good quality product and the chrome is very nicely applied. Also, the magnetic catch is larger than the one originally on my shower door. The only problem is that the vinyl insert to be placed between the door glass and the shower handle was too thin to allow for proper installation of the new handle. I had to use the vinyl insert that I took off of my original handle. It was thicker and fit the door and the new handle perfectly.
